Assistant Nurse Managers are responsible for the following: - With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Assistant Nurse Manager works with the Nurse Manager and provides oversight for patient care and nursing services on their assigned unit and shift. - They promote quality evidence-based care and patient satisfaction in a fiscally responsive manner. - The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with the Nurse Manager in assessment and planning for nursing care. - She/he assists in leading the daily operations of the unit - Acts as a resource, lead, and clinical role model for the patient care team. - Advances and oversees patient care standards of the unit for the designated shift - Facilitates and coordinates patient care delivery and flow through the continuum of care. - She/he carries out the responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in her/his absence with guidance from the Administrative Director - The Assistant Nurse Manager participates in hiring and evaluation of staff - The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective operations of the nursing unit. - She/he supports nursing professional development, Magnet, and Shared Governance through participation in, and mentoring of colleagues, on councils and the Clinical Ladder program. Qualifications for this position include: - Bachelor's degree in nursing required; Master's degree preferred. - Professional/leadership certification preferred (for example CNOR, CEN, NE-BC, other) within 2 years of hire and 2 years acute care experience required; experience in a similar or 'like' unit is preferred. - Demonstrated leadership and management potential. - Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice; BLS required based on organizational guidelines/polices. ACLS and PALS as required by department. - Certification in specialty preferred. - OR RN experience a must!
