Bingham & Taylor is Hiring for the role of Outside Sales Representatives!Requires Travel 70% of the Time Benefits:

  • Gas and Hotel are also provided by the Company Summary:
    • Identify and develop new and existing markets within the specified sales territory. Primary responsibilities include the writing of specifications and gaining approvals for B&T products in order to generate sales.
    • This position also requires extensive knowledge of product offerings, excellent time management skills, understanding the territory and in territory travel of at least 70% (primarily by automobile).
    • Primary environment: Office area. Secondary environment: Manufacturing area. Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. Industrial lighting provided. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Know and understand company products, uses, and unique characteristics. Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
      • Establish End-User pull through strategy in the territory with an emphasis on writing specifications and gaining approvals for B&T products.
      • Evaluate sales markets in the specified territory and prioritize required time commitment based on market potential and sales growth. Determine sales and gross margin profit opportunities within the potential market.
      • Develop relationships with contractors, municipalities and engineering firms for the purpose of gaining approvals, specifications and orders of B&T products.
      • Leverage End-User relationships to sell product through Distributors in assigned territory.
      • Continually contact and set meetings with prospective and regular customers to promote B&T products through demonstrations and value selling for the purpose of soliciting orders.
      • Establish product trials and sample reviews with prospective and regular customers to stimulate new product orders within the specified territory.
      • Know and understand Distributor network in assigned region. Maintain strong partnerships with key customer personnel and decision makers.
      • Develop best practices for leveraging company produced products to maximize sales and profitability.
      • Consistently following up with all customers and decision makers throughout all phases of the sales process.
      • Monitor market conditions, product innovations and competitors' products, prices and sales.
      • Quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties and delivery dates. Consult with clients after sales or contract signings to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support.
      • Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs and attending trade shows and conferences.
      • Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records and filing expense account reports.
      • Provide samples, drawings, catalog and bids that meet specific customer needs.
      • Competently recommend products to customers, based on customers' needs and interests.
      • Prepare annual, quarterly or other regional sales budgets as directed. Execute routine administrative duties including customers sales records and expense reports. Physical Demands & Work Environment
        • Sitting, standing, stooping and squatting can be expected as well as navigation of stairs, ramps, and uneven walking surfaces.
        • The performance of this position sometimes requires exposure to typical manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment: Steel toed shoes, and Safety Glasses.

          • Four year undergraduate degree
          • Value based sales experience
          • Prior service experience, sales or distribution experience Knowledge:
            • Sales and Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
            • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
            • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
            • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Skills:
              • Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively.
              • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
              • Persuasion - Persuading others to change their minds or behavior.
              • Social Perceptiveness - Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
              • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
