About St. Christopher's Hospital for Children

Responsibilities
A Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in his/her
professional responsibilities in providing pharmacy services.
Working under the direction of a licensedpharmacist, participates
in the preparation, dispensing, distribution and return of patient
specific medications including intravenous admixtures, supplies
andmaintains automated technology equipment, packages unit of use
dosages, maintains and transports pharmaceuticals, and performs
tasks associated withregulatory compliance. Documents activities as
indicated and performs other duties as required. A Medication
Reconciliation Pharmacy Technician will beindependently obtaining
medication and allergy histories for patients that will be admitted
to the hospital from the Emergency Department. Information will
beobtained by interviewing the patient, patient family, calling
local pharmacies and also using other available resources. The
information obtained will be enteredinto a computer system and it
will be used by physicians and other health care providers to
determine treatment plans and medication orders during and
postdischarge from the hospital.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS- High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE:
1+ years pharmacy technician experience required
Prior experience in hospital pharmacy preferred
Pediatric experience preferred
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS- National Pharmacy
Technician Certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician
Certification Board (PTCB) Required upon hire or within the first
6months of employment
