Overview Innovation Architect POSITION SUMMARY: The Innovation Architect (IA) acts in a partnering role with the Originations channels and associated support units (UW, Credit Policy, IT, etc.). The IA has the responsibility to explore, research, identify, experiment and recommend options which will aid the Originations group in executing responsibilities and designing solutions. The IA will may lead or direct multi-functional teams when evaluating solutions and initiatives in pursuit of business objectives which comply with regulatory/investor requirements. These efforts will often involve the integration with systems, particularly Ellie Mae's Encompass origination platform, Tavant's Point of Sale Platform, the emerging NexGen initiative, and the imaginative use of data whether such data are available internally or externally. An individual with a propensity to connect seemingly unrelated dots is an ideal candidate. The IA will take a leadership role in designing and evaluating significant and complex change initiatives. The IA role must maintain a consistently strong level of communication with peers and sales colleagues. The IA is responsible and accountable for driving improvement strategies by openly exchanging ideas, opinions, and elevating concerns while following Bayview policies and procedures as defined. - Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: --- Serve in an advisory capacity while leveraging the IA's experience to aide in the identification and evaluation of strategic and tactical solutions by working closely with Sales, Operational, Technology, and other Support units involving the Originations business o Such capacity will include, but not be limited to: investigating, defining, researching, recommending, and/or participating in the creation, identification, evaluation and/or delivery of solutions for the business --- Responsible for involving the appropriate internal and external groups to complete research, assignments and/or projects including the leverage of industry connections, peers and other professional contacts. --- Provide thought leadership and guidance to the Originations group, communicate the vision for the group and challenge the status quo with digital and emerging solutions --- Ensures research and evaluation includes relevant investor standards and government regulations --- Works closely with internal and external resources in the design and testing of solutions in lab-like settings to evaluate how emerging solutions may solve current or future business demands o Responsible for connecting all units for advisory purposes when completing research and evaluations associated with assignments and/or projects. --- Defines, scopes, and tests plans to resolve matters that typically involve cross-functional teams, departments, and/or systems. Depending on the nature of the initiative, participation in the development and implementation of solutions may also be required. --- Investigate and evaluate products, solutions, or design elements to ascertain the degree to which such items may provide ground-breaking innovation or success --- Reviews investor standards and government regulations to ensure required changes are properly communicated and implemented in the unit's Policies and Procedures --- Continuously evaluates/considers Best Practices to optimize processing timelines and customer satisfaction and making associated updates to the unit's Policies and Procedures --- Any other responsibilities requested by management --- Limited travel is required - Qualifications SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES: --- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills --- Must be detail driven, highly responsive and very analytical --- Must demonstrate a strong initiative and drive and the ability to influence others --- Excellent leadership, customer relations and interpersonal skills are required --- Strong planning and organization skills are required --- Must be able to work under pressure and adapt to sudden changes in the operating environment --- Ability to meet deadlines with high levels of accuracy EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: --- College degree preferred or equivalent experience in mortgage banking originations and in management required. --- Minimum 10 years Management/Leadership experience, at least 5 of which in a Mortgage Banking environment. Having an applied knowledge of workflow, loan origination systems and leading teams is preferred --- Strong PC skills (MS Office Suite) required, must have experience with Mortgage origination systems, platforms tools and technology, particularly Encompass. --- Applied knowledge of regulatory requirements, government sponsored enterprise loan program requirements and mortgage documents required. --- Project management with exposure to Agile development methodologies is required. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND/OR REGISTRATION --- Six Sigma credentials (Master Black Belt/Black Belt/Green Belt) preferred --- NMLS state licenses are beneficial to have but are not essential to the job.
