We're also actively working to combat the spread of COVID-19 through new programs like Healthy at Work.DescriptionAs a Senior Underwriter, you will leverage Coefficient's precision risk solution to provide self-funded employers with more predictable benefit plan protection. You are a builder, able to plan strategically for the benefit of the business and you thrive in a fast paced environment.Responsibilities* Evaluate client data for the determination of rates for Coefficient's insurance products in a manner that is consistent with guidelines and sound actuarial principles.* Direct involvement with designing and developing custom reporting that the client may require.* Develop key underwriting processes and direct implementation of such processes within the company or within the context of affiliated organizations.* Organize a cohesive underwriting response to complex cases displaying quantitative insight into recommended effects on pricing.* Ability to monitor congruence of underwriting performance with Company business plan and budgetary goals. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:* Undergraduate degree required with course emphasis in insurance management or mathematics, statistics or quantitative science.* 3 years experience as a health insurance underwriter either in primary health insurance or employer stop loss underwriting combined with a proven track record of underwriting innovation. * Deep understanding of insurance benefit pricing mechanisms and use of rating models for provisioning rates.* Deep understanding of the commercial insurance landscape including but not limited the roles of sales, brokers, advisors, employers and regulators. * Strong communication skills.Preferred Qualifications* Previous experience leading program innovation as well as executing fundamental requirements.* Understanding and key elements of client data reporting both in its creation and explanation to clients.* Experience manipulating large data sets for proper entry into designated rating model.* Understanding of critical SLAs within the insurance industry for key functions and the effect these may have on rating.* Providing rationale for pricing decisions to other company employees or directly to client, broker or client advisors.
