Development Analyst at JM Search, you are responsible for
supporting business development through market research, material
creation, and identifying growth opportunities. Each JM Search

about having fun while we do it. Responsibilities: Industry &
Market Insight Conduct research on industries, companies, and
executives to identify high-potential business development (BD)
opportunities. Develop foundational business acumen, staying
current on market trends and applying insights to guide BD
strategy. Business Development Coordination Identify and pursue
opportunities with current, former, and prospective clients,
collaborating across practices to expand reach. Support pre-sales
activities (e.g., target identification, pitch content, deck
preparation, and meeting follow-up), ensuring timely data entry and
updates in JM Search databases. Track and report on BD performance,
analyzing trends and outcomes to refine outreach strategies. Pitch
& Material Creation Develop, update, and maintain pitch decks,
smart packs, and other client-facing materials, ensuring brand
alignment and relevance. Coordinate with team members and Marketing
to keep materials accurate and compelling. Market Research &
Mapping Perform targeted market mapping and competitive
intelligence to uncover new growth avenues. Integrate research
findings into BD strategies, enhancing client pitches and overall
effectiveness. Thought Leadership & Content Marketing Collaborate
with Practice Leaders and Partners to create and promote
industry-focused content (articles, interviews, blog posts).
Maintain an annual marketing calendar for key content drops,
events, and email campaigns. Deploy and track outreach campaigns,
adjusting tactics to improve engagement. Event & Sponsorship
Management Provide administrative and planning support for
conferences, hosted events, and sponsorships. Identify speaking and
moderating opportunities for Practice Leaders and Partners,
optimizing event participation and ROI. Conduct follow-up and
measure outcomes to refine future event strategies. Brand
Consistency & Collaboration Work closely with Marketing to ensure
all BD activities and materials align with JM Search's messaging
and brand positioning. Collaborate with internal teams to drive
cohesive BD initiatives, maximizing impact across the organization.
Requirements Competencies: Foundational Business Acumen – Develops
an understanding of the industry and market landscape, actively
engaging in learning opportunities and applying new knowledge to
support BD efforts. Pitch Deck & Material Creation – Creates,
updates, and maintains pitch decks and smart packs with
consistency, ensuring accuracy and relevance. Market Research &
Mapping – Conducts initial market research to identify potential
growth opportunities, displaying attention to detail. Sales
Tracking & Reporting – Accurately tracks sales activity and
pursuits, supporting the team with reliable and accessible data.
Administrative & Event Support – Assists with administrative
coordination, ensuring smooth event planning and execution.
Qualifications & Experience: Entry level-role; 0 – 2 years of
experience in a recruiting, executive search and/or professional
services environment. Bachelor’s Degree preferred; competitive
intelligence/knowledge management advanced studies a plus.
Effective writing and editing skills coupled with outstanding
attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple research projects
at once. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Must
have proficiency in Internet research, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
