OVERVIEW:

Provide Leadership, oversight and expertise to implement, adapt, support and maintain our Infrastructure Automation & Delivery Practice at Vertex. Work with the team to facilitate efficient communications, collaboration, and integration between development, testing, information technology, product support, sales consulting and online operations. Insure integrated solutions across the business in support of in-market and emerging products and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide thought leadership, design, development and support for the Infrastructure Automation & Delivery Practice


    • Recommend and lead architectural enhancements to the underlying tools, code, processes and associated infrastructure
    • Act as the primary liaison for Development Teams to ensure coordination and execution of dependent activities.
    • Build and maintain a deep working knowledge of all technical and business imperatives of TIWC stakeholders across Vertex, including key integration points and functional
    • Manage Process and Procedure development, representing technical and infrastructure support needs
    • Participate on, and lead, Vertex Project Teams as required
    • Represent technology-area knowledge as it related to matters at hand
    • Manage User expectations and deliverables using product management methodologies
    • Be responsible for delivery against commitments.


    • Provide leadership to support in-market solutions


      • Provide guidance and oversight of troubleshooting activities on cross-functional issues within the Infrastructure Automation & Delivery Team;
      • Provide technical support for Vertex---s existing services and solutions in support of development and testing activities;
      • Investigate any reported problems with the existing automation or solutions;
      • Ensure that full documentation exists for all services and solutions in place. Author documentation or modify existing documentation where gaps exist;
      • Manage system changes in accordance with established asset, configuration, and change management policies and procedure.


      • Provide leadership in the architecture and design of new and emerging solutions


        • Lead the service and support efforts required by business and technical stakeholders of product teams, consulting, product support, and online operations;
        • Ensure that established SLA's are met or exceeded;
        • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders on planning and status updates as necessary;
        • Document options and tradeoffs (both functional and technical) as well as estimated development effort as requested;
        • Implement new and enhanced solutions as necessary in response to new or existing business objectives and time lines.


        • Provide Supervision to Team


          • Mentor Team Members
          • Foster an Adaptive Team with a mindset of continual learning, driving and responding to market changes.
          • Work closely with other Technical Infrastructure competency based teams to strategize, address issues and insure alignment.
          • Manage and Coach employees all human resource related processes including: selection, performance management, employee relations, compensation, employee development, etc.
          • Own attainment of high employee satisfaction and retention; lead development of programs and initiatives within team to attain high employee satisfaction
          • Prepare and manage budget inputs as assigned by the Work Center Leader; analyzes variances and


          • Lead or participate in other projects or duties.
          • Occasional travel may be required.


            KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


            • 4 years of technical support, architecture, and design responsibilities across business functions;
            • 4 years experience with network infrastructure technologies and systems;
            • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced development and testing environment;
            • Strong interpersonal, communication, and planning skills working with both internal technical and business stakeholders as well as external customers;
            • Proficiency in scripting (Python/Ruby/Powershell);
            • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible;
            • Software as a Service (SaaS) Infrastructure and business model knowledge;
            • Demonstrable ability to articulate design points and underlying architectural elements while developing a business case in support of enterprise strategies;
            • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while supporting multiple technical areas of a complex computing environment;
            • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
            • Ability to effectively and efficiently engage and partner with business stakeholders for problem resolution and design/delivery of new capabilities;
            • Demonstrated ability to effectively participate on an engineering team;
            • Proven self-discipline and motivation.
            • Ability to apply professional concepts, experience and company objectives in order to perform an in-depth analysis of situations or data to resolve complex issues in creative ways.
            • Ability to work without supervision. Wide latitude for independent decision making.
            • Ability to network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
            • Ability to listen and understand information and communicate the same.
            • Must possess good organizational, presentation and facilitation skills.
            • Must be results oriented, customer focused, and exhibit good interpersonal skills.
            • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
            • Sufficient knowledge of business communication, including telephone, voicemail, and e-mail and operations of office machines, such as photocopier, scanner, and fax.


              EDUCATION AND TRAINING:


              • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or similar technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.


                WORK ENVIRONMENT:


                • Works at a desk in a climate-controlled environment.
                • Normal working environment is at a moderate noise level.
                • Position requires extended use of a keyboard, monitor and telephone.
                • Frequent movement to other offices and/or buildings on site for meetings
                • The individual frequently communicates and exchanges information.
                • Adequate vision abilities required to read correspondence, computer screen, documents, etc.
                • Periods of fast pace are typical; particularly when working to meet deadlines
                • Role may require off-hours support
                • Role may require moderate travel to company locations and industry events.
