THE POSITION
Demonstrate your expertise in recreation and physical education as
a Corrections Activities Specialist for the State Correctional
Institution (SCI) at Chester! We are seeking an enthusiastic and
creative person to join our team and help keep the inmates active

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Activities Specialist, you will be responsible for
organizing, instructing, and supervising inmate programs, leisure
time activities, inmate work crews, and sports at SCI Chester. In
this position, you will be scheduling, coordinating, and teaching
programs at all levels of interest and ability in the areas of
sports, games, creative and performing arts, and social recreation.
You can expect to oversee staff and volunteers who assist in
conducting activities. Your duties will include coaching or
assisting in the coaching of various sports, as well as
demonstrating basic sports techniques and fitness equipment.
Additionally, you will supervise inmate organizations and self-help
groups.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 40
hours per weekWork hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Sunday -
Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.This position is eligible for full
retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.Salary: Selected candidates who
are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will
begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,343.00

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:A
bachelor's degree with major course work in recreation and physical
education; orAn equivalent combination of experience and
trainingApplicants will be considered to have met the educational
requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a
qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:Successful completion of basic training in
Elizabethtown, PA is required.

meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance
requirements.
