impede their development and productivity. CORA provides this
assistance throughout the greater Philadelphia area. "Children are
the Heart of the Matter"CORA's Good Shepherd Mediation programs aim
to encourage peace, reconciliation, and social justice by equipping
communities with the tools to transform conflict. Our teen programs
help youth navigate relationship building, decision-making,
conflict management, and accountability through peer mediation and
restorative justice.The Restorative Justice department of CORA
Services is launching the Transforming Justice Hub: a two-tiered
project that seeks to empower Philadelphian youth who have been
both impacted by and involved in neighborhood gun violence to
interrupt cycles of conflict, and the systems of oppression that
cause them, through community organizing and community dialogue.In
service of this mission, The Hub will host a recurring six-month
Popular Education course that trains youth, in neighborhoods most
familiar with the conditions of gun violence, to become certified
circle keepers, peer mediators, and community organizers. The
course comprises 40 hours of facilitation training, 10 hours of
political education, and 6 hours of hands-on practice leading
restorative justice models. The second component of this project is
providing restorative justice services, from de-escalation to
healing circles, to our overall community by partnering with the
youth apprentices to facilitate these practices in their respective
neighborhoods.This project was designed with the understanding that
gun violence, and other forms of interpersonal violence, is a
symptom of the material conditions that marginalized communities
are subjected to, and that "those closest to the problem are
closest to the solution". We seek staff who share this analysis and
can engage those at the epicenter of our gun violence epidemic to
be leaders in this movement.Community Coordinator for the
Transforming Justice Hub Role:The Community Coordinator sustains
The Hub's relationships and quality of service by being the first
point of contact for referrals and communications; conducting
trauma-informed case management; maintaining important records,
schedules, and data; and providing key administrative assistance to
all aspects of the program.Community Coordinator for the
Transforming Justice Hub Educational Requirements: Bachelor's
degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training
and experience.Community Coordinator for the Transforming Justice
Hub Experience/ Knowledge/ Skills: Minimum of 4 years of experience
with office administration systems and procedures. Minimum of 1
year of experience with trauma-informed practices. Experience
working with youth. Excellent organizational and time management
skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including
ability to lead presentations in public forums. Candidates with
bilingual proficiency are strongly preferred. Ability to work
proficiently with Microsoft Outlook, Zoom, and databases.
Demonstrated understanding and commitment to racial justice,
economic justice, disability justice, and gender liberation, with
the ability to develop supportive and trusting relationships with
people directly impacted by these issues. Demonstrated
understanding of the systemic causes of gun violence within
marginalized communities. Candidates with lived experience and
direct knowledge of the issues this project seeks to address are
preferred. Enthusiasm for the mission of CORA GSM and loyalty to
the goals and objectives of CORA GSM.Does this sound like the
