Job Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The MDE Coordinator, under the direction of the Behavioral Health
Director of Children's Services, is responsible for ensuring the
success of:
Responsible for overseeing initial evaluation program which
includes scheduling, reviewing completed evaluation and providing
clinical supervision to evaluators.
Ensure that evaluators and office staff are completing all required
work in HCSIS. Ensure that office staff are completing work in
PEIDS and EVOLV. HCSIS is the web programs that the initial
evaluations are entered into.
Develop schedules, including times and days of evaluations.
Attend all county and state meetings / conferences that pertain to
the early intervention system.
Monitor training hours of all evaluators.
Complete quarterly case reviews and verification to ensure the
program is within compliance of all regulations and policies as
they pertain to the initial evaluation program.
Complete evaluations (3 weekly).
The MDE Coordinator will occasionally observe evaluators conducting
multi-disciplinary evaluations and determine conformance with
county standards.
This position is responsible for planning, examining, and reviewing
the MDE program, with the support of the Behavioral Health Director
of Children's Services, developing methodologies for collection of
relevant data, including number of evaluations scheduled and
completed, number of evaluations with IFSPs and
no-shows/cancelations.
This position requires a demonstrated commitment to expanding
developmental opportunities and improving outcomes for infant and
toddlers and a comprehensive knowledge of early intervention
service policy issues, practices, programs, and procedures.
This position has additional job duties and responsibilities
specifically related to the areas of recruiting, hiring, and
staffing of MDE evaluators.
Essential Functions under COMHAR:
Maintain ongoing knowledge of all aspects of Initial MDE program -
billing, budget, personnel, documentation, early intervention
system, training, etc.
Ensures that all evaluations are entered into HCSIS within 48
hours. This includes auditing reports to ensure that vital
information is imputed correctly.
Ensure that all staff are up to date with Teaching and Learning
Collaborative (TLC) trainings
Attend County and EI Providers Meetings, as applicable.
Complete verification tool and case reviews. Meet with county
analyst to review records and verification tool.
Complete special projects relevant to Children Services Department
as directed by Behavioral Health Director of Children's Services.
Perform any other agency-related duties or special projects as
directed by Behavioral Health Director of Children's Services.
Shared Essential Functions:
Provide administrative assistance to the MDE team workers
throughout the fiscal year.
Attend professional development trainings, workshops, and
educational seminar.
Research and distribute information to agencies regarding best
practices, innovative service models, and other information
regarding the provision of early intervention services.
Participate in regularly staff meetings to ensure well-coordinated
and effective delivery of services to meet program goals and
objectives.
Support hiring process of MDE Evaluators, as needed, to include
reference checks, verification of credentials and communication to
candidates and staff.
Support ongoing assurance of properly credentialed staff.
Other duties reasonable and related to this position as directed by
related supervisors.
SKILLS:
Knowledge of children and youth development best practices, tenets
and research.
Knowledge of administrative principles and practices as they relate
to the operation of IBHS services.

diverse cultures.

Education, Employment and Credential Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with a strong background in early intervention,
early childhood special education, early childhood education, child
development, special education. Master Level degree in in early
intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood
education, child development, special education preferred.
2 years' experience working directly with preschool children with
disabilities and their families
Significant demonstrated supervisory experience or skills.
Valid Criminal FBI, PA State Criminal and PA Child Abuse
clearances.
Valid driver's license and vehicle preferred. Must be able to move
about COMHAR service areas throughout the day to provide
appropriate oversight and coordination and meet job duties as
needed and required.
Physical Requirements:
Continuous walking, sitting, standing. Durations of any of these
physical requirements up to six hours.
Continuous use of writing tools, keyboard functions, and telephones
(Cell).
Ability to walk stairways.
Ability to physically intervene with eloping or aggressive clients
when needed.
Lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Visual requirements: normal vision requirements.
Hearing requirements: able to hear normal conversation in person
and on the phone.
Communication requirements: able to communicate without assistance
from another person (use of assistive communication devices
permissible).
