# Position Summary: Performs Diagnostic Ultrasound Scans, as ordered by physicians.# Performs associated duties to maintain high quality standards in an efficient department.# Performs duties in support of the Medical Center mission. This position serves all ages of patients This position covers per-diem open shifts and on-call coverage, which inlcudes weekends.# On evening and weekend shifts the technologist will cover the primary site at Taylor Hospital and our sister department at Springfield Hospital.# Call coverage will include both sites. Education and Training:## Graduate of an accredited Allied health Program Certified by the ARDMS in Abdomen and OB/Gyn Specialties # Experience: Must possess adequate scanning experience in the above mentioned areas, preferably 2-3 years of hands-on acute-care hospital based experience. Skills: Operate computer and patient imaging equipment.# Perform high level disinfection Interpersonal Skills Organizational Skills # Registration, Licensure and/or Certifications: CPR. Must be a registered graduate of an accredited Allied Health program Two years full-time direct patient contact.####################################### Certified by the ARDMS in Abdomen and OB/Gyn Specialties # Physical Demands and Sensory Requirements:# Heavy physical effort; lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients Lifts equipment/supplies Manual dexterity Pushes/pulls, moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies Transports patients in wheelchairs Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching Hearing sensitivity bilaterally within normal limits (0-24. db HL) aided/non-aided and/or speech discrimination within functional limits for telephone and personal communication. Visual acuity of 20/60 in at least one eye (with/without correction) Color perception Ability to communicate verbally # Working Conditions:# Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment Exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals May be exposed to toxic chemicals Exposed to explosive chemicals, gases and low level radiation Subject to hazards of flammable, explosive gases Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness) Handles emergency or crisis situations Occasionally subjected to irregular hours Requires judgment/action which could result in death of patient Extensive use of computer equipment Operates or rides in a motor vehicle # Blood Borne Pathogen Risk: Category I.
