Staff Attorney role is an in-house, remote position that will
handle a designated caseload of Tort/Liability defense matters
which requires extensive experience with and strong working
knowledge of Pennsylvania civil litigation practice. This includes
experience handling civil matters at the Common Pleas level through
the Appellate courts. While there is potential to handle matters
throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the focus of this
position involves the handling of matters in Northeastern
Pennsylvania venues. Our selected candidate will be part of
collaborative learning environment with onsite appearances in
partnership with our Attorney Staff. The team is committed to

want to speak with you. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Analyze complex legal
and factual issues, conduct extensive and develop well-reasoned
legal research. - Independently create and present defense
strategies on behalf of clients. - Prepare complex pleadings,
written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of
defense strategies with autonomy. - Partner with our Claims
Partners to achieve the best results for our Hartford insured. -
Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal
advice and other services to clients on legal and factual issues. -
Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and
co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretion. - Facilitate
prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases. -
Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials,
judicial/administrative hearings, arbitrations and alternative
dispute resolutions. - Research, draft, file and argue appellate
briefs in reviewing courts on behalf of clients. - Participate in
Team Huddles. - Provide in-house training to junior associates
and/or claims partners. - Participate in claims file reviews. -
Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain
high level of professional expertise. QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum of
7 years of legal practice experience handling a variety of tort
defense cases. - JD from accredited law school and license to
practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. - First-chair jury
trial experience is required. - Self-directed with excellent
organizational and prioritization skills. - Positive minded and
collaborative team-player attitude. - Strong legal research and
writing skills. - Demonstrated skills with influencing outcomes
thru analytical analysis. - Strong communication and computer
skills. - Proficiency with MS Office, Word and Lexis Nexis. -
Knowledge and experience with Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook is a
plus. - Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage
new software as required. WHAT ELSE CAN YOU TELL ME? This position
is a remote work opportunity however, our selected candidate will
travel from periodically within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
with the focus being travel in and around the Northeastern
Pennsylvania territory. Typical Starting Salary: $149,000-$175,000
For full-time remote positions: (1) high speed broadband internet
service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless,

provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to the Hartford
issued computer with an ethernet cable; and (3) minimum

from your personal computer. Compensation The listed annualized
base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions
in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above
or below the listed range based on factors including but not
limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of
competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one
component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for
employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses,
long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized
base pay range for this role is: $132,400 - $198,600 Equal
