world. JOB TITLE: IT Network Architect JOB DESCRIPTION : St. J
ohn’s University has several strategic network initiatives and see
k s a network professional with experience in complex data and tel
ecommunications systems architecture, developmen t, and management
. Candidate m ust have do main expertise in networking design and i
mplementation based on Core, Distribution , and Access layers
principles . Also, the candidate should have hands-on technical
experience with network protocol s (BGP, EIGRP), network OS ( iOS ,
Nexus), Layer 2/3 , and wireless networks . This position p rovide
s technical lead ership to other team members in an individual
contributor capacity . RESPONSIBILITIES : Architect and Design
Networks: Develop comprehensive designs for wired and wireless
networks, ensuring the implementation of best practices in hardware
utilization and security protocols. Strategic Planning: Contribute
to develop i n g the strategic vision for network infrastructure,
aligning network architecture with organizational goals and
emerging technologies. Cross- f unctional c ollaboration: Work
closely with other infrastructure teams to implement integrated
solutions that support the overall IT strategy. Network
Implementation: Guide i mplement ation of network solutions and
maintain optimal network performance through regular assessments
and upgrades. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Assist with d
iagnos ing complex network issues, perform thorough problem
determination, and recommend effective solutions to ensure minimal
downtime. Policy Development: Develop and refine policies and
procedures related to network security, data integrity, change
management, and documentation, ensuring compliance and adherence
across the organization. Executive Communication: Present network
solutions, strategies, and project progress to senior management,
articulating technical concepts clear ly and concise ly . Project
Oversight : Oversee network projects from inception to completion,
communicating progress, challenges, and resource requirements to
stakeholders. QUALIFICATIONS: Technical Expertise: In-depth
knowledge of data networks and protocols, including TCP/IP, IPv4,
IPv6, QoS, and VoIP. Network Experience: Proficiency with Cisco
networks and products , Palo Alto, Infoblox, and Cisco wireless
networks . Network Security: Experience in network security
practices and forensic analysis to protect against and respond to
security threats. Voice and Data Integration: Proven ability to
integrate voice and data networks effectively. Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to
detail. Communication Skills: Excellent coordination,
organizational, teamwork, and communication skills. Multitasking
Abilities: Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects
simultaneously, and work under pressure to meet deadlines. Process
Automation: Skilled in automating network processes to improve
efficiency. Presentation Skills: Ability to present complex
technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
effectively. REQUIRED BACKGROUND: Bachelor's degree in Computer
Science , Information Technology, or related field. Seven to ten
years of hands-on network administration experience with a track
record of designing and implementing network solutions. Proven
leadership skills with experience in managing teams, fostering
professional development, and driving team performance. CCNA ; CCIE
strongly preferred. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act,
the annual salary range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000 .
