Job Description:
The Network Engineering team is a highly skilled group of
professionals responsible for building, maintaining and configuring
the network infrastructure in support of Akamais global platform
which carries 20% of all web traffic. The backbone network forms
the technical foundation of Akamais products and services requiring
high performance, reliability, and scalability at a global scale.
Partner with the best As a Senior Network Engineer you will provide
leadership for the Backbone Network Engineering team. Designing and
architectural review of technology deployments and software
developments that impact the global Akamai backbone. As a Senior
Network Engineer, you will be responsible for: • Designing,
deploying, debugging and scaling core backbone infrastructure
across new and existing global metros • Installing, configuring,
and maintaining Juniper and Cisco hardware in production
environment • Coordinating with vendors and internal organizations
to build and expand large points of presence across the globe •
Conducting deep protocol level debugging in collaboration with our
hardware vendors to resolve complex network issues • Collaborating
with cross-functional teams on topology standards and processes for
router deployments, maintaining detailed documentation on router
configuration and non-standard setups • Leveraging network
telemetry and internal databases to drive data-informed decisions
on performance optimization and capacity planning • Partnering with
network architecture, automation, infrastructure, and NOC teams to
maintain high network availability, reliability, and performance Do
what you love To be successful in this role you will: • Have 8
years relevant experience and a Bachelors degree in Computer
Science or its equivalent experience • Demonstrate hands-on
expertise with BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, Traffic Engineering, and RSVP in a
large service provider organization • Display experience in IP
network design & routing architecture ideally within ISPs, content
providers or CDNs • Have working knowledge of virtualization, SQL,
Linux/Unix systems, Python or other scripting languages •
Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills and
ability to build trusting relationships on a global team • Be a
highly organized self-starter who is comfortable working with
