Widener University's School of Business Administration (SBA), which is accredited by AACSB-International, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Information Systems/Analytics at the rank of Assistant Professor starting August 2023. Faculty will primarily teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Information Systems, Analytics and related fields. The ability to teach courses in database management, object-oriented application design and development, process management and digital transformation is desired. We invite applicants who are engaging teachers, conducting high quality research and a willing to commit to academic and professional service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential duties:

  • Teach a portfolio of graduate and undergraduate courses in an applied and engaging manner

  • Normally teach three courses per semester which may be in face-to-face, online or hybrid deliveries.

  • Support the mission of the SBA through teaching, research and service (including leadership activities in the school, university, community, and/or profession).

    Secondary responsibilities:

    • Serve as an advisor to undergraduate students

    • Contribute to curricular planning, assessment and improvement based on assessment data

    • Participate in student recruitment and retention activities

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):


      • Ph.D. in Information Systems or related field from an AACSB accredited business program by the date of appointment. ABD candidates will be considered with a planned completion date by December 2023.

      • Meet the requirements of AACSB for Scholarly Academic and a commitment to pursing a stream of research

      • Qualified to teach database management, object-oriented application design and development, process management and digital transformation at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

      • Commitment to excellence in teaching, high impact practices and innovative curriculum development.

      • Commitment to incorporating the use industry software, such as SQL, SAP and SAS, in courses.

      • Commitment to utilizing data visualization applications, such as Tableau

      • Commitment to leadership and service activities.


        • Special consideration given to candidates with the expertise and ability to teach and research in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, AI, and/or data and process mining.

        • The university offers joint certificates at the graduate and undergraduate level in SAP and SAS. Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience teaching with these tools.

        • Experience with low code/no code application development


          • The typical teaching load is three courses per semester, which may be in face-to-face, online or hybrid delivery formats.

          • Graduate classes are in the evening.

          • May have to participate in some evening and/or weekend recruitment and networking activities.
