Position Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, University Information Systems, the Director, University Information Systems: Plans, conducts, and coordinates business programming applications activities. Manages feasibility studies for new applications and/or revisions to existing systems. Oversees system development cost estimates, budgets, and schedules. Prepares and presents project proposals to management and user departments. Establishes programming standards and program documentation requirements. Establishes and assures adherence to schedules, work plans and performance requirements. Manages application programming activities and day-to-day operations through several subordinate managers having overall responsibility for functional programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages day-to-day activities across University Information Systems cross functional teams. Oversight of University Identity Management, including SSO implementation activities, LDAP /Banner/AD integration, and support tools. Oversight of Enterprise Applications including Ellucian suite, Oracle, Business Intelligence, web technologies, mobile, integrations and ERP . Works closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops strategy, business cases, and reviews, as appropriate, to meet changing needs and requirements. Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
  • Sets and manages client expectations, internally and externally. Communicates effectively to identify needs and priorities and evaluate alternative business solutions. Continually seeks opportunities to increase student, staff, and faculty engagement in alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
  • Assist Assistant Vice President with benchmarking, strategic planning, relationship management, internal and external, and governance-related activities, including audits. Ensures compliance with Information Technology department program plans, policies and procedures, and service unit outcomes
  • Researches and incorporates innovative technology to lead transformative operations and services.
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
    Formal Education
    • Bachelor's degree Work Experience
      • 10 years' experience in managing IT teams and/or projects
      • 7 years' experience working with ERPs or other mission-critical systems, including Salesforce Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)
        • Demonstrated track record of managing high-performance teams in implementation and/or operational modes towards successful attainment and alignment of strategic goals and objectives
        • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical staff
        • Must have excellent organizational and technical skills to diagnose problems in an environment with constantly changing priorities
        • Effective interpersonal communications skills with an emphasis on a high degree of customer service satisfaction
        • Ability to manage and coordinate day-to-day activities and to work closely with stakeholders to ensure that issues are addressed in a timely fashion and in accordance with expectations
        • Ability to consult with management and various committees to facilitate the identification and prioritization of current and future administrative application needs and solutions; analyze technology needs and provide direction for software and systems acquisitions and upgrades
        • Experience developing and executing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures in the areas of application development, reporting, and integration, which guide and govern best practices and are in line with strategic objectives
        • Skilled at critical thinking, persuasion/negotiation, conflict resolution, staff development, leadership/management, and problem solving
        • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong analytical and quantitative skills Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)
          • Advanced technical and professional role, requiring expert/lead technical and business knowledge in strategic planning, implementation, quality assurance, project management
          • Broad knowledge of IT functions in support of higher education technology alignment to organizational objectives
          • In-depth knowledge of the applications programming development function, including applicable security considerations
          • Knowledge of document management
          • Experience with mobile application development
          • Knowledge and experience with digital accessibility standards
          • Knowledge of Web content management systems and development
          • Demonstrated experience in business intelligence and reporting
          • Knowledge of integration tools, cloud-based services, databases, identity management, directory ( LDAP , AD, etc.), and ERP and CRM systems ---
            Equipment Knowledge
            • General knowledge of personal computers and peripheralsPreferred Qualifications:
              Formal Education
              • Master's Degree
              • Project management certification, Project Management Institute ( PMI ) Project Management Professional ( PMP ) preferred Work Experience
                • Experience working in higher educationSpecific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)
                  • Knowledge of Softdocs document management software and tools
                  • Knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager
                  • Knowledge of business intelligence reporting tools, Cognos and Argos reporting software preferred
                  • Knowledge of integration platforms, such as Boomi and Ethos
                  • Knowledge of identity management platforms, preferably Microsoft Identity Management
                  • Experience with cloud-based services, such as AWS Redshift
                  • Experience with Oracle databases
                  • Experience with higher education software, and tools, including Banner, Degree Works, Technolutions Slate, Automic, Blackbaud, Operational Data Store, Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Salesforce Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
                    Occasional off-hours work required.
