AgroFresh supports growers, packers, and retailers with solutions across the food supply chain to enhance the quality and extend the shelf life of fresh produce. The AgroFresh organization has 40 years of post-harvest experience across a broad range of crops, including pome fruit (apples/pears), citrus, avocados, and mangoes. -The Global Retail & Technology Strategic Marketing Director will be responsible for the development and execution of strategic marketing plans within the retail sector and across food chain channels. This role is key in developing differentiated marketing, go-to-market/pull through strategies that will drive awareness, and expand reach and influence for the full portfolio of AgroFresh post-harvest products including our leading digital solution, FreshCloud. -The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with AgroFresh's regional commercial business directors, regional/global category strategic marketing and field technical services teams to define the strategic marketing approach as well as work to build industry relationships with our retail partners and key industry trade and retail associations globally. -The ideal candidate would have 10+ years in B2B marketing, with significant experience in the retail/foodservice industry, agriculture or CPG and have expertise across all marketing touch points including B2B, B2C, digital, print and retail marketing, with proven success of developing insightful, impactful strategic long-term marketing plans. Some travel will be required.The role will report directly to the Global Marketing Director.Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the Retail and Food-Chain & Technology Marketing strategy, including the execution of tactics into the channel.
  • Partner closely with the Regional Retail Account Director (field based), global strategic marketing and technical teams to define and adapt value propositions and devise the best retail marketing strategy to heighten awareness of AgroFresh and create pull through for our post-harvest solutions including our digital solutions across the produce sector. -
  • Adapt and tailor global product and category strategies to build communications strategies for retail and food chain channel - utilizing key marketing levers, including but not limited to print, event, social, influencer marketing, tradeshow, PR, digital, experiential, etc.
  • Act as the key liaison with key industry trade associations, NGOs and retail advocacy groups.
  • Anticipate future trends leveraging primary and secondary data sources to inform long-range plan
  • Develop, manage, and allocate marketing budget -
  • Work across the Global Marketing organization to serve as a mentor and role-model to team members - creating a learning environment and sharing of best practices. Qualifications: These qualifications, experiences, and skills are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual's performance history and demonstrated potential.
    • 10+ years of B2B marketing experience and a proven record demonstrating successful category strategy development across a portfolio of brands.
    • Industry experience in agriculture, food-chain, retail, food service, or CPG required. -
    • Food Supply Chain industry or retail network connections a plus. -
    • Fruit and Vegetable (i.e. specialty crop) industry experience a plus.
    • Proven success in the following marketing disciplines; brand management; global positioning; sales strategy; market research; communications, CRM, PR, Strategic Planning; digital marketing.
    • Ability to build long-term partnerships and network with key external stakeholders
    • Demonstrated skills in strategic, analytical, complex problem-solving and ability to use strategic storytelling. -
    • International experience working across cross-functional teams (USA, EU and LAR) -
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills and ability to lead through influence -
    • Strong financial analysis skills and proven ability to create forecasts, business cases and scenarios.
    • Ability to interact with/influence AgroFresh Sr. Management with confidence and conviction
    • Commitment to excellence - both in results achieved and how they are achieved
    • Comfortable with ambiguity -
    • Languages: English roficiency required; Additional languages a plus, specifically Spanish, French or German -
