The Good Karma Cafe intends to serve as a community-oriented, common ground meeting place where all members of the neighborhood feel comfortable coming in to enjoy the products and services offered, along with each other's company, in a fun and friendly atmosphere. We are proud to be in a select few of 100% Organic, Fair Trade Cafes in Philadelphia.Job Summary: The store manager is responsible for leading all team members in the efficient and profitable operation of a Good Karma store. They are responsible for managing the day-to-day store operations, maintaining high store standards and conditions, and fostering a positive environment, which provides consistent, fast, efficient, and friendly service ensuring a Good Karma Experience for both our customers and team members. The store manager creates the tone and personality of the store by being an advocate of training, customer service, product knowledge and education, encouraging safe work practices, and a demonstrated commitment to our Guiding Principles and House Rules.Job Responsibilities:Store Operations:Direct management of store personnel to achieve goals of delivering an exceptional Customer Experience.Develops and executes sales and profit plans that are in-line with budgetary goals.Ensures and is accountable for profitability of the store by growing sales and controlling costs ofgoods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and expenses.Maintains and utilizes daily, weekly, quarterly and annual financial reporting tools.Oversees all cash and media management functions. Able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures, coordinating with Director of Operations as necessary.Maintains proper loss prevention standards, reviewing cash handling procedures, deposits and safe procedures.Maintains a clean well-merchandised store, following visual presentation plans and standards.Promotes and practices safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and any team member or customer incidents.Assesses and provides adequate staffing to provide efficient and friendly, superior service.Maintains high cleanliness standards consistently throughout the store in the areas of store appearance,merchandise and equipment.Provides ongoing training and development to all team members in the areas of operating standards, customer service and product knowledge.Demonstrates the ability to lead, effectively communicate, and champion The Good Karma Principles, House Rules, and Standard Operating Procedures.Builds morale and team spirit by fostering a work environment where team members input is encouraged and valued.-- - Assist with recruiting, selecting and developing high-caliber talent through training, coaching and assignments.Knowledge, Skill and Ability: Ability to interact with diverse personalities.Proficiency in the operation of a cash register.High degree of interpersonal skills.Education and Experience: High School Graduate or equivalent; College education not required but preferredPrior cash handling experience preferredRequirements: * Basic Management experience - at least 2 years preferably in coffee or hospitalityProficient on a computer; familiar with software programs such as Google docs and Microsoft OfficeMust be able to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings and special events as needed.Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities.This position will require frequent standing and use of hands and arms.Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist.Frequently required to use hand and finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects.Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.Preferred Requirements: -- - Must be ServSafe certified, or will become certified within the first 90 days of employment.2 years retail management experience requiredManagement Benefits:-- - Competitive salary with defined career progression for growth-- - Free meals / Free Drinks-- - Paid Vacation (after six months of service)-- - Healthcare & Dental Benefits (after six months of service)-- - 40 hours paid sick time-- - Guaranteed full-time hours-- - Extensive on-boarding and training programJob Type: Full-timePay: $13.00 - $19.00 per hourBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceEmployee discountFlexible scheduleHealth insurancePaid time offRetirement planSchedule:8 hour shiftOvertimeWeekendsSupplemental Pay:Bonus payTipsExperience:Management: 2 years (Preferred)Education:Bachelor's (Preferred)License:ServSafe (Preferred)Work Location:One locationWork Remotely:No
