Job DescriptionThe Phlebotomy Supervisor manages team of Phlebotomists and couriers which includes daily schedules, monitoring employees duties, securing and delivering all collected samples and report issues on a timely manner.Responsible for couriers and ensuring the chain of custody of collected samples is followed and that all samples are safely transported and delivered to the lab. Maintains a strong working relationship with the Phlebotomy Manager, collecting and monitoring all productivity results, monitoring the dispatch process and working with the Account Managers to resolve any service issues. May need to draw patients as needed.Essential Position Duties ¨ Manages employees daily schedule¨ Communicates promptly and efficiently with manager and leads regarding client questions, concerns and complaints.¨ Ensures that phlebotomy supply and specimen drop off area is neat and organized at all times.¨ Maintains accurate attendance records for phlebotomists.¨ Drafts up all disciplinary action for phlebotomists timely for review by HR.¨ Compiles monthly problem requisitions in a timely manner for management.¨ Be actively involved in the “in-service” process of new accounts.¨ Partner with the sales team to ensure the lab services offering is flawless. When required, meet with accounts to address service issues.¨ Monitors and oversee Phlebotomists dress code, supplies, name stamps, ID badges, etc.¨ Participates in the hiring and training of new Phlebotomists.¨ Covers phlebotomy responsibilities when needed.¨ Audits mileage verification for Medicare billing missing information.¨ Works with processing supervisor to minimize lost problem requisitions.¨ Works with the call center staff with the scheduling of Phlebotomists.¨ Seeks coaching/mentoring when appropriate.¨ Adheres to applicable policies and procedures.¨ Completes special projects as assigned by Phlebotomy Manager.¨ Responsible for writing performance reviews as policy outlines.¨ Follow up on all post exposure, employee paperwork, source specimen testing, notifications.¨ Hold monthly meetings with staff.¨ Audits run sheets.¨ Assume duties/responsibilities of Lead Phlebotomists as needed by working in the field as needed.¨ Maintains procedure manual and makes changes as approved by Management.¨ Attend weekly meetings with Phlebotomy Manager.¨ Performs all duties in compliance with established safety and OSHA guidelines.¨ Adheres to established HIPAA confidentiality standards of patient, client, facilities and U.S. Laboratory staff.¨ Performs all other tasks or duties as assigned.¨ Manage Salary / Wage (Overtime) not to exceed budget.¨ Completes payroll/timesheets weeklyCompliance Responsibilities ¨ Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, and procedures including, but not limited to, those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, HIPAA and Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA).¨ Participates in required orientation, Compliance and HIPAA training programs.¨ Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance using the 4-Step Reporting Process.¨ Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.¨ Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Core Competencies/Skill Sets ¨ Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.¨ Good computer skills (Microsoft)¨ Knowledge of medical laboratory operations.¨ Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, techniques and skills¨ Proficient in written/verbal skills in English language.¨ Ability to follow written and verbal orders.¨ Ability to maintain effective working relationship with patients, clients and management.¨ Ability to take direction and conduct self in a professional manner.¨ Proficient in computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing and Microsoft Office.¨ Strong organizational skills, an ability to prioritize task, and meet deadlines established.Professional Experience/Educational Requirements ¨ Requires high school diploma or equivalent, Associate’s degree preferred¨ Requires a minimum of three years’ experience in a position with similar responsibilities.¨ Requires completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program, or adequate phlebotomy experience.¨ Demonstrates clean driving record within existing company policy.¨ Demonstrates current proof of auto insurance coverage.Certification/Licensure¨ Valid driver’s license.¨ National Phlebotomy Certificate required. (Provide copies of CEU’s received).
