Description Position Description Weekend Personal Care Attendant
is responsible for providing personal care to Blessings4Ever Home
Care Agency consumers in their activities as specified by the
patient care plan in compliance with general precautions and
according to the established policies, procedures and objectives of
the organization. The Personal Care Attendant has the
responsibility of reporting client-related issues and changes to
the home care agency as soon as the issue is identified. Primary
Responsibilities: • Supports organization’s mission by striving for
excellence in all aspects of the job with a focus on positive
interpersonal relationship with consumers • Provides personal care
services as established in the consumers plan of care. •
Communicates with patients and their families on a regular basis. •
Submits required documentation timely per agency policy and
procedures. • Ensures compliance of agency infection control and
safety policies. • Adheres to the organization’s policy regarding
absenteeism and appearance. • Performs daily living functions for
patient and may provide total assistance with the following: o
Bathing of patient in the bed, the tub, or in the shower. o
Dressing patient o Grooming, including care of hair, shaving and
ordinary care of the nail’s teeth and mouth. o Toileting, which may
include assisting the patient on and off the bed-pan commode or
toilet o Walking, beyond that provided by durable medical equipment
within the home and outside the home o Transferring from bed to
chair or wheelchair; o Preparing of meals in accordance with
modified diets, including low sugar, low fat, low salt and low
residue diets o Feeding patients. o Administration of medication by
the patient, including prompting the patient as to time,
identifying the medication for the patient, bringing the medication
and any necessary supplies or equipment to the patient, opening the
container for the patient, positioning the patient for medication
and administration, disposing of used supplies and materials and
storing the medication properly. o Providing routine skin care. o
Using medical supplies and equipment such as walkers and
wheelchairs; and o Changing of simple dressings • Observes, records
and reports information about client’s condition and home
environment. • Recognizes emergencies and follows agency procedures
appropriately. • Complies with agency confidential policies;
demonstrates and understanding of patients’ rights and maintains
respect for patient privacy and personal property. • Documents
hours worked by utilizing Electronic Visit Verification protocols.
• Perform other specific tasks related as assigned. Qualifications
Will Demonstrate the following Skills/Qualifications: • Strong
organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and
prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to
detail. • Possesses the ability to read, write, and follow written
and verbal directions and work with limited supervision. •
Demonstrates an accepting and therapeutic attitude towards the
sick, disabled, and the elderly and possess the maturity to deal
effectively with the demands of the job. • Reflects a professional
and positive attitude Education/Experience Requirements •
Successfully complete the training courses. • Successfully complete
the competency exam. • High School diploma or GED preferred. •
Healthcare experience preferred. • CNA: 1 year preferred. • Provide
or obtain a current CPR certificate required • Meets the
Commonwealth or Pennsylvania compliance requirements. Physical
Demands & Environment Primarily working indoors with
client/customer contact; use of specific equipment as braces,
bedpan, crutches, electrical bed, Hoyer lift, walker, wheelchair,
household appliances, vacuum cleaner etc. Employee may be required
to sit, bend, stoop, use keyboard, see, talk, and hear. Ability to
perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include heavy
lifting and extensive bending and standing. Ability to deal
effectively with stress. In compliance with applicable law,
