Job Description Traveling Optometrist - Skilled Nursing Facilities (New Graduates Welcome) Work Location: On-site at Skilled Nursing Facilities in Queens, NY (Brooklyn, Westchester, Queens, Rockland, Bronx, Long Island) Travel between assigned facilities required (1-2 facilities per day minimum) Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Contract (On-site, Travel Role) Schedule: Monday - Friday Days per Week: 2-5 days (based on availability) No evenings | No weekends | No on-call Compensation: $750 - $950 per day Daily bonus opportunities for optional increased patient load Ability to increase earnings by seeing additional patients Patient Volume: High 20s per day (Full patient roster consistently available) Practice Overview: A well-established eye care organization is seeking motivated and personable Optometrists to provide on-site vision care to patients in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) across Queens, NY. This is a mobile, facility-based role focused on serving the elderly population with full clinical and administrative support. Optometrists are assigned specific nursing homes and will travel to at least two Skilled Nursing Facilities per day, selected from an assigned group of locations. Providers typically work 5-6 hours per day, finishing once the patient load is completed. Position Overview: This role is ideal for Optometrists who enjoy autonomy, flexible scheduling, and meaningful work with geriatric patients. The organization handles all scheduling, billing, and administrative tasks, allowing providers to focus entirely on patient care. A medical assistant is assigned daily, and portable equipment is provided. Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive eye exams to nursing home residents Diagnose and manage vision conditions in geriatric patients Educate patients and caregivers on eye health and treatment plans Travel to a minimum of two Skilled Nursing Facilities per day (from assigned locations) Work independently with clinical confidence and professionalism Collaborate with assigned medical assistant during patient visits Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Benefits & Perks: Flexible scheduling (set your own days and hours) Malpractice insurance fully covered Mileage reimbursement at $0.40 per mile Reimbursement for tolls and gas Medical assistant support throughout the workday Portable diagnostic equipment provided Professional development assistance Referral bonus program Schedule Details: Start time between 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM Finish once patient load is completed Monday - Friday only No weekends or on-call requirements Qualifications: Doctor of Optometry (OD) Active New York Optometry License (Required) 1 year of experience preferred (new graduates welcome) Experience with elderly patients is a plus Reliable personal vehicle required (travel role)
