Job Description:

Position Summary: Hospice Program Leader and Administrator, who by education and experience develops and maintains a clinically sound, fiscally responsible and responsive hospice program.Essential Functions:

  • Leads and manages all aspects of a clinically excellent, cost-effective Medicare-Certified hospice program as an integral component of VNA Philadelphia.
    • Prepares complete operational and financial objectives, plans and budgets; and is responsible for implementing and meeting these objectives.
      • Ensures that structure and systems promote interdisciplinary care and ensures supportive services are available to staff.Other Duties:
        • Leads in negotiating vendor relationships required for operating our certified-hospice program.
          • Stimulates and develops working and collegial relationships within the hospice community locally and at the state and national level.
            • Grows the hospice program to a level consistent with unmet community needs as well as financial viability of the agency.
              • Establishes appropriate multidisciplinary staffing needs; directs staff in performance of their duties, performance improvement, and motivates and supports the hospice interdisciplinary team.
                • Ensures standards of ethical business and clinical practice are maintained.
                  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.Knowledge and Experience:
                    • Background in nursing, social work or equivalent health-related discipline and a minimum of five years of supervisory or administrative experience in a home health agency, hospice or related health program; or a master's degree with a minimum of three years experience as a hospice program key leader for either complete program operations or clinical operations.
                      • Experience and success in building and managing new health care programs, preferably hospice-related.
                        • Excellent teaching, management, analytical and presentation skills.Education: Master degree in Nursing or Health Care Administration, or in administration of a health-related field..
