DESCRIPTION:
The Injury Prevention and Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program (HVIP) Manager is responsible for the overall planning, development and oversight of the Trauma Prevention Program and HVIP for Jersey City Medical Center. The objectives of the program are to (1) educate the community about injury prevention and trauma care; to indirectly decrease death and injury by improving trauma care within the region, (2) to raise the visibility of the Trauma Center through increasing public awareness by generating positive media coverage through community outreach, (3) provide oversight to the HVIP program whose objective is to decrease injuries due to interpersonal violence at JCMC by intervening on patients and families during the teachable moment while they are hospitalized, thereby reducing the interpersonal violence recidivism rate in Hudson County in addition to violence prevention activities including, but not limited to groups and connection to resources.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor s degree in nursing or related field, Master s degree preferred. Successful completion of training including hospital-wide orientation. Three (3) years of recent experience which involves trauma/injury prevention related activities. Participation in community organizations and firsthand understanding of issues related to interpersonal violence preferred. Must have a basic understanding of computer use and software applications, and the ability to perform basic internet searches. Must be able to work independently and seek guidance when necessary. Must have good listening skills. Must have a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and have the ability to work with individuals of a diverse background. Must have own transportation. May require to work every other weekend depending on department s needs.
