Director, Food SourcingPosition Summary:
The Director of Food Sourcing is responsible for all aspects of
donated and purchased foods in the Food Flow stream. The Director
of Food Sourcing will provide strategic leadership and management
to Philabundance's Food Sourcing team, ensuring sourcing goals and
requirements are met. This leader will oversee and grow sourcing of
retail, wholesale, manufacturing, donated, purchased and government
food supplies with particular focus on increasing donated food
through industry relationships.
Primary Job Functions:
- Develop and maintain a long-term food sourcing plan to reduce
(or even eliminate) reliance on purchased food. -
- Lead a team of approximately 7 people to continuously improve
quantity, quality, variety and availability of food products in the
Philabundance network.
- Maintain, grow and form new collaborative relationships with
food donors, leading a donor engagement cycle inclusive of donor
recognition. -
- Lead, promote and influence operational changes with the
Logisitics team for improvements in receiving, and distribution
models. Partner with food donors, warehouse, transportation teams
and Community Partnerships to develop plans around service
gaps/opportunities.
- Maintain accurate data within the team and be able to analyze
data to identify opportunities for growth.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and
work experience
- Minimum of Eight (8) years of experience including supply
chain, agricultural business, procurement, purchasing, operations,
management, fundraising and/or sales.
- Minimum of Four (4) years of experience managing and motivating
a team, assessing talent, collaborating cross functionally,
performance management and career development.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity
with database software.
- Knowledge of USDA donated/government food ordering program is a
benefit.
- Capable of working with groups of people at varying levels and
positions within an organization; demonstrated ability to work with
people from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with attention to detail,
deal with interruptions, and maintain focus on tasks while
producing accurate work
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
consisting of other staff members and volunteers
- Safe food handling certification a plus; training and
recertification provided
- Strong sense of efficiency, time management and
organization
Physical Demands:
- Work in a seated position up to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week;
may be required to work some weekends and evenings
- See, hear and speak with sufficient capability to perform
assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions and
communication with the public.
- Work in an environment that will contain:
- variable temperatures inside warehouse in ambient, cooler, and
freezer areas for extended periods of time
- outside weather conditions, dust/dirt, confined work
areas
- exposure to noises including horns, backing alarms, as well as
flashing lights
- Reach, grasp, and maintain control of items and materials used
to perform activities associated with delivering and picking up
packages
- Must be able to read words and numbers accurately
- Occasional travel to other Philabundance/sites as needed and
required
- Demonstrate cognitive ability to:
- Follow directions and routines
- Concentrate, memorize, and recall
- Identify logical connections and determine sequence of
response
