Description of Position: - - - - - - - - - -
The Events and Advisory Organizations Manager plans and executes
Greater Philadelphia special events, manages and recruits for
advisory organizations, and facilitates community outreach for the
Red Kettle Campaign and the related data.
Responsibilities
DUTIES - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- Under the direction of the Community Relations and Marketing
Senior Executive Manager, coordinate details of special events for
The Salvation Army in Greater Philadelphia from start to
finish.
- Under the direction of the Community Relations and Marketing
Senior Executive Manager, provide written, technical,
administrative, and data support for the Greater Philadelphia
advisory organizations - Advisory Board and Echelon.
- Plan, support, and execute the Advisory Board's annual
fundraising event, working closely with the event's host committee
on all logistics and fundraising with a goal of at least
$200,000.
- Plan, support, and execute the Greater Philadelphia Echelon
chapter's annual fundraising event, working closely with the
event's host committee on all logistics and fundraising with a goal
of at least $25,000.
- Create, develop, and maintain goals, sponsorship, and task
spreadsheets and databases that are event specific.
- Utilize Divisional online giving platforms for special events
and the Christmas Campaign.
- Conduct special event and board mailings, follow-up, database,
invitations, timely acknowledgements, etc. with support from the
Divisional Database Team.
- Support the Community Relations and Marketing Senior Executive
Manager in the development of promotional items, digital, printed
materials, and other details relevant to the successful
implementation and completion of special events and
campaigns.
- In coordination with the Director of Corporate Engagement,
refer, develop, and maintain professional relationships and rapport
with key corporate contacts for event support. Work in partnership
to secure significant corporate financial sponsorships in support
of Greater Philadelphia events.
- Support Greater Philadelphia's Red Kettle Campaign - physical
and digital.
- Support the Divisional Secretary for Greater Philadelphia and
Advisory Board in the development of an annual calendar of events
for Greater Philadelphia.
- Provide necessary assistance to Greater Philadelphia volunteer
events and in-kind donation campaigns.
- Support the Community Relations and Marketing Senior Executive
Manager in the development and execution of marketing and media
relations strategy as needed, available, and appropriate.
- Perform other tasks as needed, are appropriate, and
assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum BS or BA degree, preferably in relevant field such as
Business or Sales Marketing and a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant
event planning professional experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to
relate effectively, reliably and professionally with corporate
professionals and others.
- Must be able to effectively multitask with deadlines and follow
through consistently and strategically
- Must be well-organized, proactive, able to work independently
and follow-up accordingly.
- Must be computer proficient, able to easily and effectively use
email, Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite and donor and
volunteer management software.
- Must demonstrate good judgement, leadership characteristics and
work well as part of a team. Able to work effectively and in
harmony with officers, staff and volunteers.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel as
needed, flexible on scheduling (including attendance at early
morning, evening, or weekend meetings/events.
- Adherence to the AFP Code of Ethics.
- Adherence to TSA's Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest
Policy.
- As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed
training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the
training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of
employment with recurrent training required every five years
thereafter.
- Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to
include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal
Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
- Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission
of The Salvation Army.
