ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER

MAJOR FUNCTION:

Supports the mission, vision and philosophy of the Nursing Department. At the direction and in collaboration with the Nurse Director/Nurse Manager, supervises staff with the implementation of patient care and staff job performance. Participates in performance evaluation process and provides coaching and counseling to staff and recommends disciplinary action to nurse manager or clinical director. Oversees staffing model and may take a patient assignment during high census or emergent situations. Actively participates in shared governance councils and oversees unit based nurse practice council functions. Encourages harmonious and positive work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

BSN required; MSN preferred

Experience:

Minimum 2 years' experience as a Registered Nurse

Certification/Licensure:

Current New Jersey licensure and American Heart Association BLS Must meet all the competencies and job requirements of an RN in their practice setting. National Certification in specialty area required within 3 years of hire.
