Job Description - Assistant Director of Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (232148) Assistant Director of Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory - ( 232148 ) The Assistant Research Professor is expected to nucleate a productive and healthy lab environment in their area of interest. Because this individual is responsible for the overall success of the lab, they should be familiar with all lab techniques, have outstanding written and oral communication skills, and provide strong mentoring/support for junior scientists (technicians, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, etc.). This individual also oversees the entire scientific process, from experimental design to interpretation and publication. Ideally, they also contribute to the scientific mission FCCC through service on committees and other leadership opportunities. Ultimately, it is expected that the Asst. Research Prof will establish a world-class, independently funded research lab. Asst. Research Profs are generally promoted from within the Institution as individuals who show strong promise in leading an independent lab. The Research Track is not subjected to the same demands of the Tenure Track, though many of the expectations for scholarship, funding and service are the same. Asst Research Prof positions are contracted, based on conversations with scientific leadership. Promotion to Associate Research Professor is contingent on a successful review by the Appointments & Promotions Committee.

Education
Doctorate Degree : Physical or Biological Sciences (Required)
Post Doctorate Degree: Ph.D or MD (Required)

Experience
3 Years experience writing and communicating in a research environment (Required)
General experience and proficiency working in a research lab (Required)
General experience applying scientific theories and principles (Required)
General experience mentoring trainees and lab personnel (Preferred)
