United Way of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) seeks an experienced and innovative professional to help advance the organization's mission to "end poverty and expand opportunities for all." The Managing Director, Community Resiliency will provide leadership, direction, and fundraising support/advocacy for the strategies and partnerships that respond to urgent and fundamental needs of communities, including access to food, housing, education, and healthcare. The person in this role will be charged with effectively advancing support for community resiliency programming and initiatives with strategic partners, including funders/donors, government agencies/entities, corporations, and community stakeholders. This position reports to the Chief Impact Officer (CIO) and is a member of the UWGPSNJ leadership team.About UWGPSNJ:United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey has a century-long record of driving change by creating socioeconomic opportunities in the region. Ideal candidates will be inspired by mission-driven, community-engaged work with organizational experience in, fund development, sustaining strategic partnerships, coalition management, communications, community engagement, and evaluating the impact of programmatic initiatives on the communities targeted by UWGPSNJ.Professional Characteristics:

• Commitment to poverty alleviation and equality; experience - lived, professional, and/or academic - that advances United Way's mission and improves its practices
• 7+ years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in nonprofit, business, or government
• Strategy and planning skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives over multi-year lifecycles
• Experience leading large-scale partnerships or collaborations, particularly involving government and/or philanthropy
• Strong knowledge of the fields of basic needs and poverty alleviation
• Demonstrated competency in raising awareness of and financial support for causes and/or organizations
• Entrepreneurial approach and ability to build, adapt, and execute in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience building and managing program budgets preferred
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience preferredKey Responsibilities:
  • Lead UWGPSNJ's Community Resiliency strategy, which includes research, grantmaking, strategic partnerships, civic convening, and advocacy
  • Assemble and sustain leadership initiatives, which are large-scale, collaborative teams of partners working in concert to advance a shared vision
  • Grow institutional, corporate, and individual donor support for the Community Resiliency strategy in partnership with senior leadership and development teams
  • Manage a framework for measuring and improving the impact of the investment portfolio and its initiatives to ensure equitable and effective outcomes
  • Champion the goals of Community Resiliency by producing case statements, participating in public speaking and media opportunities, presenting to donors, staff, and board members, and convening regional conversations with key stakeholders
  • Develop deep and mutually beneficial relationships with nonprofit organizations that are leaders in urgently addressing the fundamental needs of communities, including access to food, housing, education, and healthcare
  • Work with leaders from government, philanthropy, research/academia, and other institutions to advance community resiliency through improved access to basic needs Ensure equitable distribution of UWGPSNJ resources through targeted outreach, data-informed decision-making, and open reporting and communications practices
  • Oversee budgets and reporting for grants and initiatives
  • Manage staff and consultants as needed
