The Program Manager, Strategic Initiatives, is a key member of UnitedHealth Group's (UHG) Risk Management team within the larger Corporate Security organization. Corporate Security is responsible for the Enterprise Workplace Security Program that ensures the protection of the company's global workforce and physical assets through security risk management platforms. The Strategic Initiatives program accelerates critical initiatives through creative solutioning and cross-functional coordination while driving connectivity across our organization in alignment with its mission. We objectively drive strategy through a risk-based approach to ultimately minimize the security impact across the company. -



The Role the Program Manager, Strategic Initiatives is responsible for managing execution of complex-cross functional projects and their implementation strategies; managing Corporate Security's data and analytics program; providing subject matter expertise; and developing innovative, winning solutions. This position supports the Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives as they develop the strategic framework for these multiple initiatives across the organization. The position requires solid self-management, organization, and teamwork skills and will be a solid contributor to enhancing a culture of high-performance, innovation and collaboration within the Corporate Security department. -

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Developing strategies and execution plans for multiple cross-functional strategic projects
  • Collaborating with Corporate Security leaders to develop unique and insightful data reporting that improves narrative storytelling and demonstrates successes, opportunities, and risk factors
  • Developing and maintaining accountability of a sophisticated metrics and data analytics program that supports the development of long-term organizational strategy
  • Supporting the development of security risk assessment methodologies, processes, and tools
  • Owning and helping advance specific projects, processes, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Conducting research and analyses of operational effectiveness, processes, interconnectivity, and continuous improvement lifecycles
  • Monitoring and assessing workgroup progress against agreed upon deliverables to ensure initiatives stay true to their strategic objective
  • Raising, escalating, and mitigating findings, projections, and recommended actions as well as and managing proposed recommendations and projects
  • Managing and influencing decision-making processes within project working groups
  • Managing working group engagements, communications, and meetings
  • Creating meaningful relationships with internal and external business partners
  • Supporting the organization with ad-hoc data requests, which include but are not limited to aggregated data/metrics, graphical representation of data, and consolidation of data sources
  • Providing key support to the lead of the Strategic Initiatives program as it continues to mature and evolve
  • Act as a liaison and vendor relationship owner for select vendors related to the Strategic Initiatives program

    Required Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
    • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, project management, management consulting, strategic planning and/or data analytics
    • Experience utilizing analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, SQL, R, Python, Access, Power Automate, SmartSheet)
    • Experience managing projects individually or as part of a group
    • Proficiency using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Proven solid verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex or technical information, as well as ability to synthesis complex information from others
    • Proven solid organizational and planning skills
    • Research and analytical abilities including data visualization, analytics and/or data modeling expertise
    • Proven ability to analyze problems and provide effective, winning solutions
    • Demonstrates self-starter that demonstrates accountability and ownership of their work; a team player willing to freely share knowledge, resources, and information

      California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $67,800 to $133,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
