Job Description:
Reporting to the Vice President of Public Safety and in
collaboration with Temple University's Strategic Marketing and
Communications team, the Director of Messaging & Communications for
Temple University Campus Safety Services sets the strategy and will
develop, implement, and manage all safety-related messaging and
communications for the department. The Director will also be
responsible for maintaining the Campus Safety social media presence
and website. - The Director will oversee the day-to-day responses
and messaging that drive positive awareness and interest in Temple
University Campus Safety. The Director positively impacts Temple's
reputation among parents, alumni, and the public in regional,
national, and global markets.The Director will also assist with
special campus safety projects, including event planning and
coordination, plan development, web research, data entry, office
duties, and project delivery. The Director may need to attend
events and travel on campus or between campuses. This position
requires a responsible individual who is self-motivated, dynamic,
enthusiastic, and needs little supervision. Performs other
job-related duties as assigned.Education and Experience:Bachelor's
degree in communications or related field with three (3) to five
(5) years of experience. A combination of education and experience
may be considered.Required Skills and Abilities:*Ability to handle
sensitive matters in a confidential and professional manner. *Must
have skills and competencies in public safety and emergency
management, including public safety, outreach/engagement, health
preparedness, emergency planning, crisis communication, physical
plant preparedness, and preparedness training/education.*Excellent
working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+,
LinkedIn, and other social media best practices relative to Campus
Safety.*Good understanding of social media KPIs and interpretation
of measured data.*Excellent communication skills with an acute
focus on messaging, communication, and branding.*Knowledge or
experience in branding, messaging, or similar related.*Skilled in
multitasking, computer use, web design, and time
management.*Skilled in critical thinking and problem-solving, as
well as being innovative and creative.*Excellent interpersonal and
communication skills and experience with public
speaking.Preferred:*Knowledge of content management systems and
social media management tools.Note: - This description incorporates
