AIG's Defense Base Act Unit operates as part of the Primary
Admitted Casualty business and resides within the organization's
General Insurance unit. The team provides Federally mandated
coverage to both large and small employers requiring this unique
coverage due to a Federal government contract.
This position reports directly to the Product Line Manager and will
work internally and externally with underwriters, insureds and
brokers.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Marketing - 20%
---Attends prospective client meetings with UW and claims to assess
the overall risk management program of prospective clients.
---Attends periodic broker meetings to discuss important
developments in the risk management space.
---Attends various seminars (Emerge, Longshore, etc) to stay
abreast of the latest developments in the space.
New business - 20%
Assists Underwriters in identifying potential loss sources for new
business submissions.
This could include:
---Reviews loss runs to identify major causes of loss.
---Reviewing statements of work.
---Conducting online research
---Where applicable develop client service plans to present as part
of the new business quotation.
Client Engagement - 50%
---Reviews loss trends to identify loss sources and identify
opportunities to improve.
---Conducts client meetings to understand current risk control
procedures in place and evaluate potential opportunities moving
forward.
---Develops achievable client improvement goals based on loss
producing conditions and directed toward Profit Center service
agreement objectives. Guides the client in methods of achieving the
improvement goals with measurable results.
---Tracks the success of loss improvement programs.
---Manages vendor relationships with clients.
Other - 10%
---Research and identify technology and vendor opportunities to
bring to our clients.
Requirements
---College graduate
---3 plus years of commercial insurance experience.
---Prior Military experience a plus
---Prior experience with Defense Base Act insurance is a plus but
is not required.
---Ability to interact within all levels of an organization from
senior executives to front line managers.
---Ability to travel as needed on an unrestricted basis.
