Offer Development, Strategic Contracting is responsible for the development and execution of contract strategy for customers within Strategic Customer Group and works in close collaboration with Account Management and Pricing Strategy to develop the most appropriate offering (products, pricing, terms, and conditions) for the customer while supporting the objectives and strategies of the business.

The Contract Manager, National Accounts, Offer Development is responsible for leading the management of contract development, negotiation, and execution activities between JJHCS and assigned customers for all books of business in the managed markets channel. This role requires close collaboration with Pricing Strategy, Legal, Brand, Account Management, Contract Strategy & Analytics, and Enterprise Contract Solutions to implement approved strategies. This individual will have a primary alignment to the Director of Offer Development. He/she will have secondary alignment to Offer Development Sr. Manager who serves as the lead for national payer/PBM/GPO customers and provides the day-to-day oversight regarding the contracting initiatives for the assigned account.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Sr. Manager, National Accounts drive the contract development, negotiation, and execution process by leading and overseeing the overall workflow for the assigned customers. Maintain all Master Agreement and Product Documents associated with these customers which includes the drafting of product documents, master agreements, notices, waivers, NDA's, etc. that reflect approved strategies. Partner with Pricing Strategy and Account Management in the development and implementation of pricing strategies.
  • Negotiate contractual language for assigned customers and manage the redlining process. Demonstrate conviction and persistence when negotiating with and influencing others. Partner closely with OD Director, OD Sr. Manager, and Legal on off template language development and escalation of terms and conditions.
  • Ensure that all approved Agreements are managed according to the JJHCS Records Management procedures.
  • "Quarterback" all activities related to assigned contract with Account Management, Contract Strategy and Analytics, Enterprise Contract Solutions (Payments, Contract Validation & Analytics)
  • Directly partner and shape the development of solutions to execute proposed offerings effectively and efficiently with assigned customers.
  • Deliver and create clear and concise communications and presentations using approaches that highlight the most pertinent information for key stakeholders and mobilizes stakeholder actions.
  • Develop Process Narratives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instruction (WI) that define the approved procedures for developing and executing Agreements with its customers. Ensure that all approved documents are uploaded in the appropriate records management system.
  • Ensure that all Agreements are drafted in a compliant manner and aligned with the laws and regulations that govern the Pharmaceutical industry and with the Guidance Documents issued by the J&J Legal Department.
  • Effectively collaborate with Contract Manager peers and Sr. Manager National Accounts to balance workload across the customers. Proactively identify areas of opportunity by sharing best practices across the Offer Development team.
  • Lead contract training sessions for Account Management and other business partners explaining Managed Markets Offer Development contracting processes and providing foundational understanding of the terms and conditions.
  • Serve as a leader within the Offer Development team. Leverages understanding of the healthcare environment and external marketplace to inform contract and pricing strategy associates to assess opportunities.

    • Bachelor's Degree is required; Para legal certification, MBA, or advanced degree preferred
    • Minimum of 4 years business related experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare industry is required.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience drafting, negotiating contracts or contract management required.
    • Experience in Managed Markets, IDN/Providers is highly preferred.

    • Big picture orientation and attention to detail; ability to think strategically, to leverage industry knowledge to anticipate and prepare for the future while at the same time, ensuring that contract templates and executed documents accurately reflect approved strategies.
    • Established organizational skills and the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and make decisions in an ambiguous and complex environment.
    • Proven track record of working in a matrixed environment
    • This role is based in Titusville, NJ, Piscataway, NJ, Horsham, PA or Tampa, FL and up to 25% travel between Janssen sites in New Jersey and Pennsylvania area is required.
