Executive Director of the Learning Commons supports the mission of
the college through the overall planning, management, and operation
of the Gertrude Kistler Memorial Library and its relationship to
the rest of campus, particularly to academic affairs. The Executive
Director is a member of the President's Senor Staff and the
Curriculum Committee. The Executive Director is a member of the
faculty with faculty status (without rank or tenure) and reports to
the Provost/Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs of the
College. Duties and Responsibilities SPECIFIC DUTIES*
--- Develop and deliver a 21st century information sharing and
collaboration strategy for Rosemont College that transforms library
services, particularly in relation to digital and blended
learning.
--- Contribute substantively to the intellectual life of the
college by planning, developing, coordinating, sharing,
collaborating with, initiating, and evaluating information and
Learning Commons services to fulfill and support the educational
mission of the college. --- Develop outreach, engagement
opportunities, key metrics, and processes to ensure and support
creative and effective use of library services and technologies to
serve the needs of students and academic departments. --- Provide
leadership, management and support for the Learning Commons in such
a way as to meaningfully embed the many resources of the library
into the academic infrastructure.
--- Manage the operations of each component of the Learning
Commons: library collections, library technology, and information
literacy engagement and teaching.
--- Oversee the personnel of each area of the Commons: Hiring,
supervising, and evaluating annual and ongoing performance of
professional staff of an information literacy faculty librarian and
support staff and work study/graduation assistant positions.
--- Coordinate all activities of the Learning Commons to maximize
student and faculty use of the resources. Create opportunities for
engagement between people, information, and technology while
supporting the goals of the library and academic technology to meet
student and faculty outcomes.
--- Create a collaborative learning space that maximizes student
and faculty use of library resources; collect and assess data to
evaluate student benefit from library services and usage to ensure
alignment of programs.
--- Develop and manage the budget for library services.
--- Participate in curriculum committees, program review processes,
technology strategy conversations, and online programming
committees, while ensuring representation of the Learning Commons
on other related committee and working groups.
--- Promote the Library's resources to students and faculty while
also assisting them in meaningful use of said resources.
--- Lead meaningful, student-centered collaborations across campus,
working closely with student support offices to enhance and improve
Learning Commons services.
--- Supervise the day-to-day operations and staff of the Commons,
establishing operational schedules.
--- Supervise the acquisition of both print and non-print materials
and the delivery of digital library databases and services.
--- Promote the integration of assessment and evidence-based
decision making related to services, collections, technology, and
physical spaces and positions the results of Library assessment
activities to enhance the Library and its impact.
--- Oversees data collection for annual reporting and survey
responses including gathering, reviewing, validating and
evaluating; and synthesizing data.
--- Work on grant proposals for the library.
--- Work with Deans and faculty to implement Information Literacy
goals across the curriculum.
--- Work with College Relations to identify donors for library and
assist with donations. Direct the Friends of the Library and work
with donors through the Office of College Relations.
--- Collaborate with the Archives of the SHCJ to preserve their
presence at the college as well as to preserve their identity into
the future. Minimum Qualifications SKILLS , ABILITIES , TRAINING ,
