The Lansdale business is experiencing excitinggrowth and is recruiting an Engineering Development Manager tocoordinate engineering activities across engineering functions forcomplex development programs. The engineering team is verystrong, encompassing over 100 engineering professionals includingsystems, software, RF, power amplifier, antenna, mechanical,reliability, test engineers and other specialties, located inLansdale as well as across several other sites. This role reports to the Lansdale Director of Engineering. Theideal candidate is someone with a strong engineering andprogrammatic background that has experience in managing engineeringdevelopment programs and continuous improvement efforts across adiverse product portfolio and has proven capabilities to work acrossfunctions in a matrix organization to achieve operationalresults. Key Responsibilities: Oversee engineering activities on development programs, incoordination with program management, to assure successfulprogram execution for technical, schedule, development cost, anddesign-to-unit-production cost (DTUPC) objectives. In coordination with program management and the lead engineer,develop detailed program schedules and engineering workassignments. Update schedules for engineering tasks on an on-going basis,identify issues, and develop and implement work-arounds with theengineering team to maintain schedule and programobjectives. Participate in design reviews. Work collaboratively withmanufacturing engineering to assure thatdesign-for-manufacturing and design-for-reliability principlesare applied. Coordinate drawing and material releases with the engineering,drafting/design, and material planning functions.Lead, participate in, and facilitate continuous improvementefforts related to engineering development, test readiness,production readiness, and other engineering-related topics usingKaizen, A3, and other continuous improvement methods.Manage engineering Key Performance Indicator (KPI) datacollection and reporting for development programs. Driveimprovements in engineering performance metrics. Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time and workwell with team members as a project lead.Ability to role-model for the organization in line withCobham's SPIRIT values, exhibiting exemplary leadership behaviorand emotional intelligence Key Measures / Milestones: Attaining Engineering Operational Excellence goals fordevelopment programs including technical, schedule, developmentcost, design-to-unit-production cost, design formanufacturability, and design for reliability goals Engineering Key Performance Indicators (KPI) improvementMinimum Qualifications: BS Engineering or Physics + 8 years' development experience,including 5 years' experience in coordinating multi-disciplineengineering development teams in a high-tech manufacturingcompanyExperience with electronics or electro-mechanical design &manufacture and strong technical expertiseExperience in managing technical efforts, including schedulingand action items for development programsAbility to effectively communicate across functions, tomanagement, and to customersAbility to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearancePreferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a technical specialty or in managementActive SECRET security clearance Experience in program management Experience using Microsoft Project to plan and managedevelopment programsExperience in driving engineering processes, practices, andmeasures of performance and proven track record with continuousimprovement achievements in engineering organizations, includingworking knowledge of LCM and/or Stage-Gate methodology and Leanpractices Certification in Lean 6-sigma methodsExperience working in and driving results in a matrixorganization Experience interfacing directly with customers Business experience, including responsibility for budgets,cost estimates, resource planning, and proposals Security: All applicants must be a U.S Citizen or U.S Person as defined byITAR (a lawful permanent resident or someone who is a protectedindividual as defined by 8 U.S.C.1324b(a)(3)).
