Job Description:
Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™
Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend
on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to
develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At
Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and
sustainability of the physical operations that power our global
economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries
are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture,
construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing —
and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at
scale. Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of
physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting
array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle
Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, Equipment Monitoring, and
Site Visibility. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have
the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long
term. About the role: The Routing organization is building one of
Samsara’s most ambitious mobile experiences, designed to support
the daily workflows of drivers in the field and help them stay
safe, efficient, and on track. This is a deeply technical problem
space that blends real-time data, thoughtful UX, and platform-wide
coordination to create a seamless experience under challenging
conditions, like poor connectivity, dynamic job schedules, and
constantly changing routes. We’re looking for engineers who want to
work closely with the customer, move fast, and shape the future of
Samsara’s Driver App. You’ll join a team that values quality,
performance, and impact - and you’ll help deliver a product that’s
critical to the success of our customers’ operations and the safety
of their teams. This is a full-time remote position open to
candidates residing in the United States. This position requires
travel up to 10% of the time and proximity to an international
airport. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.
You should apply if: • You want to impact the industries that run
our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact—helping to
keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions,
and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely. • You are
the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role
won’t be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success
and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development,
countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a
hyper-growth environment. • You’re energized by our opportunity:
The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy
requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative,
ambitious ideas for our customers. • You want to be with the best:
At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each
other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will
encourage you to do your best. In this role, you will: • Develop
and maintain high-performance mobile applications for iOS and
Android, delivering complex features at enterprise scale. • Design
and implement polished, user-friendly UI components with a focus on
accessibility and consistency across platforms, ensuring an
excellent mobile user experience. • Profile and optimize
application performance and responsiveness by identifying
bottlenecks, reducing render times, and improving memory usage,
resulting in smooth and stable app behavior on all supported
devices. • Integrate with native iOS/Android modules and APIs when
needed by leveraging bridging capabilities to unlock
platform-specific functionality. • Collaborate closely with product
managers, designers, and backend engineers to plan and build new
mobile features, ensuring code quality through peer reviews, robust
testing, and adherence to mobile development best practices. •
Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles
(Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth
Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and
across new offices. Minimum requirements for the role: • 6 years of
software development experience • 4 years of hands-on mobile app
development experience • Strong track record of performance tuning
in mobile apps, including the use of profiling tools and techniques
to diagnose and resolve performance issues • Hands-on experience
ensuring mobile app accessibility compliance, applying best
practices so that the app is usable by all customers • Solid
testing and debugging skills in a mobile context – experience
writing unit and integration tests, and utilizing continuous
integration pipelines to maintain app stability and quality An
ideal candidate also has: • Hands-on mobile app development in
production environments • Proven experience creating native modules
with native iOS and Android code (Objective-C/Swift and
Java/Kotlin) • Familiarity with geospatial or mapping technologies
such as Mapbox or Google Maps SDK • Domain experience in logistics,
fleet management, or industrial IoT • Background in native mobile
development (Swift/Objective-C and Kotlin/Java)
