Designs and develops updated network infrastructure in support of one or more business needs. Ensures a balance between tactical and strategic network technology design solutions and considers end-to-end business problems within and outside the enterprise. Develops and produces converged network best practices and ensures architectural guidelines are utilized. Acts as a key contributor in a large complex environment. Determines and pursues course of action necessary to achieve results. Frequently leads teams on specific projects providing broad direction and expertise. Usually determines own work priorities.   • Certify core hardware and software for all Regional Area Networks and our Backbone
  • Template creation for core and edge services for residential and commercial services
  • Lab testing for new services and designs for core configuration and core automation
  • Commercial service architecture and documentation/oversight
  • Janus (new core design) functional testing, service testing, template creation, automation QA, and migration testing/documentation
  • Provide inter-organizational direction for engineering groups like Network Engineering, DPE, X-Labs, and SNPWhat You'll Do:
    • Provides configurations and technical leadership as a primary technical resource on Internet Protocol (IP) router network technologies (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), traffic flows and overall end to end network communication.
    • Performs a variety of highly complex analytical duties in network design and IP services for network optimization and produces fundamental and detailed designs for implementation.
    • Analyzes traffic engineering data to forecast network capacity requirements for efficient network designs and overall cost reductions.
    • Performs technical training for regional engineers and operations/engineering (XNOC) groups on current and future technology.
    • Develops test and acceptance criteria for IP networks and provides technical direction for network problems.
    • Maintains the configuration and supports the engineering design life cycle with proper documentation ensuring that all detailed designs adhere to network standards.About an Ideal Candidate:
      • This individual should have strong knowledge of the OSI layers and practical hands-on experience with routing and switching protocols, MPLS, ethernet technologies, optical networking, and network device hardware/software.
      • This individual should be familiar with developing and following test plans as well as understanding criteria for test success.
      • This individual should be familiar with IXIA traffic generator and testing procedures with the product. They should also be able to develop ways to dynamically use the tool for automated test runs.
      • This individual should have practical knowledge of large enterprise network implementations and how to replicate potential failure scenarios within that service delivery environment.
      • This individual should be highly organized and capable of leading projects from end to end while driving to meet key deadlines. -
      • This individual should have knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, and be capable of reporting to PMO on status of project based on agreed upon delivery dates and -sprints.
      • This individual must possess a multifaceted skill set, be adaptable, a quick learner, and willing to be matrixed into different roles frequently.
      • The preferred skills for this candidate are familiarity with -OpenConfig, Yang data modelling, JSON, XML, -Xpath -XSLT, NETCONF, Python, Jenkins, -Github, Robot, VNF, NFV, VPN, VRF, BGP, Linux, -FreeMarker -script and template development, network device configuration at layers 1-7 of the OSI model, network service architecture, -gNMI -and -gRPC -path development.Qualifications:
        • Deep knowledge and practical experiences of IP/MPLS/Ethernet network technologies protocols, -implementation -and operation, such as BGP, RIP, OSPF, ISIS, and MPLS (LDP, RSVP-TE, MP-BGP).
        • Prior experience surrounding Ethernet and IP Service (Ethernet Private Line, Private LAN, Dedicated Internet, IPVLN, Internet, and Managed Router).
        • Extensive background in design and deployment of complex data networks in the Midsize and Enterprise Market highly preferred.
        • Strong understanding of IPv4, IPv6, Multicast and QOS.Additional "Nice to Have" Skills:
          • Strong knowledge of Nokia, -Ciena, Cisco and Juniper routers. Broad knowledge of -Ciena, Cisco and Juniper configurations is a -plus.
          • It is desirable to have experiences in Optical and or Cloud networking, along with L2 and L3 VPN's.
