The Mobile Diesel Technician works remotely at customer locations to diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel buses. The primary area that you will cover is Central to South NJ, some DE and into Philadelphia. This is a safety-sensitive position. Employees holding this position are responsible for the safe performance of the job duties, including but not limited to the safe operation of tools and vehicles. Employees holding this position are responsible for their own safety as well as that of co-workers.

Hours are Monday thru Friday and require some flexibility, OT is available. This position does NOT perform emergency road service calls! The repairs will be scheduled repairs performed at our client sites! Company vehicle will be provided and you will be able to take home and be able to leave for client sites from your home location.


  • Provide service and customer support while working at customer locations
  • Diagnose mechanical defects
  • Major and minor repair of engines and transmissions
  • Service and maintain brakes, air compressors, fuel systems, ignitions, HVAC systems and Wheelchair lifts
  • Keep records of time and materials used
  • Communicate with Customer and Supervisor on any delays or additional repairs that may be needed
  • Test drive buses to confirm completed repairs
  • Use standard and specialized tools and garage equipment
  • Reading and interpreting shop and technical data
  • Work with minimal supervision and perform independent tasks based upon general direction
  • Input service notes into service tracking system
  • Planning for future service work including reviewing work orders and ordering parts from Parts Department
  • Keep service truck stocked with commonly used parts to prevent delays in completing work orders
  • Stay up to date on all yearly training requirements set by the OEM
  • Strict observance of and adherence to all safety policies and procedures

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements :

    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Maintain a positive attitude
    • Maintain a professional appearance
    • Provide exemplary customer service
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion in a timely and safe manner
    • Diesel engine experience r equired; Medium duty bus experience, International Truck/Bus preferred
    • Navistar, Cummins and Braun certifications are preferred
    • Must have own set of tools (wrenches, ratchets, etc.)
    • Knowledge of the provisions of codes and laws relating to pupil transportation (i.e. IDOT inspections)
    • CDL class B License with air brake endorsement preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
    • Operate Company Service Truck and all equipment and tools needed to complete job in a safe manner
    • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
    • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance as attendance is an essential function of the position
