Summary The Site Lead is a seasonal, in-person senior leadership
role within CBED’s Freedom Schools Literacy Academy (FSLA), a
five-week summer apprenticeship program that prepares high school–
and college-aged aspiring educators while providing high-quality
literacy intervention and enrichment to elementary school scholars.
Reporting to the Program Manager, FSLA, the Site Lead serves as the
on-site leader of programming and is responsible for operational
and instructional leadership to ensure programming is implemented
with fidelity. The Site Lead ensures scholars, families, and
apprentices experience a safe, affirming, and high-quality program,
and manages an intergenerational staff team through strong
communication, coaching, and accountability. This is an in-person
seasonal position running from June 29 - July 31, with scheduled
hours of 7:45am - 3:45pm EST. Mandatory training in preparation for
the 5-week summer program. Though subject to change, the schedule
is as follows: Virtual Training: April, May, and June dates TBD
with scheduled hours from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. In-Person Training: June
15 - June 18 and June 22 - June 26. Core Accountabilities Site
Operations & Program Fidelity Own daily site operations and systems
to ensure FSLA programming is implemented with consistency,
structure, and fidelity. Instructional Leadership & Staff
Supervision Lead instructional quality by supervising coaches and
ensuring curriculum and lesson implementation meet FSLA standards.
Family & Community Engagement Build strong, trusting relationships
with families and community partners through clear communication
and engagement. Staff Development & Performance Management Develop,
support, and hold staff accountable to professional expectations
and program outcomes. Equity-Centered, Scholar-Focused Leadership
Ensure all site operations and instructional practices reflect
CBED’s commitment to racial equity, justice, and Black pedagogical
excellence. Key Responsibilities Manage daily site operations,
including arrival, attendance, snack, lunch, dismissal,
instruction, enrichment, and transitions. Manage staff and scholar
attendance tracking and develop strategies to support strong
attendance outcomes. Build and maintain relationships with
scholars, families, onsite staff, school-based liaisons, and host
district partners. Lead, plan, and execute family engagement
activities, including the development and distribution of a weekly
family newsletter. Lead planning and execution of all field trips
in collaboration with the Program Operations Manager. Manage a team
of enrichment specialists and ensure high-quality afternoon
programming for scholars. Oversee site inventory of learning
materials and technology, including devices and instructional
supplies. Provide support to scholars experiencing academic or
behavioral challenges in partnership with instructional staff and
families. Identifyoperational and instructional challenges and
implement responsive improvement strategies. Lead site team
meetings to ensure alignment, communication, and accountability.
Supervise approximately two (2) JSL Coaches and one (1) SLA Coach,
including leading weekly one-on-one meetings. Ensure curriculum and
daily lessons are implemented with fidelity to FSLA instructional
expectations. Review and ensure timely submission of all
instructional deliverables, including lesson plans, observation
forms, surveys, and coaching plans. Model professional expectations
and hold instructional staff accountable to CBED and FSLA
standards. Collaborate with coaches to supervise and support
Servant Leader Apprentices and Junior Servant Leaders. Participate
in all required training and preparation activities prior to and
during the summer program. Perform additional duties as assigned to
support program success. Leadership & Cultural Expectations CBED
leaders are expected to model the organization’s core beliefs,
leadership competencies, and values by centering justice,
demonstrating operational discipline, and leading with clarity,
accountability, and care. Leaders are responsible for fostering
inclusive, high-performing teams; engaging in continuous learning
and reflection; and building systems that are sustainable,
transparent, and aligned with CBED’s mission. Leaders are also

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required with at least three (3)
years of teaching experience resulting in strong student outcomes.
At least three (3) years of experience coaching and mentoring
teachers. Experience working in urban education settings.
Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, and data
tracking systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with intergenerational and
multicultural teams. Demonstrated ability to provide clear,
affirming, and constructive feedback and to receive feedback from
others. Engages in ongoing critical reflection on professional
practice with attention to both outcomes and processes.
Results-oriented, adaptable, and solution-focused approach to
