Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and
minimum 1 years Special Education Teacher experience required.

considered. An opportunity is available for experienced Special
Education Teachers to support young learners in an early childhood
school setting serving students with autism. The focus is on
fostering growth and independence with an emphasis on functional
behavior and communication development. Position Details: - Two (2)
Pre-K through 1st Grade Teachers for an Autism classroom serving
approximately 68 students each - One (1) Special Education Teacher
(K1st Grade) for a Non-Verbal Self-Contained Autism classroom
supporting 6 students with the assistance of 2 paraprofessionals -
Part of a larger program comprising 6 similar classrooms, supported
by a multidisciplinary team including BCBA, OT, PT, and others -
Elementary school hours: 8:30 AM 3:30 PM - Job Type: Contract, for
the full school year (NSY) - Location: Jersey City, NJ Key
Responsibilities: - Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the
needs of students with autism, many of whom are nonverbal -
Emphasize promoting functional communication skills and behavior to
enhance student independence - Collaborate with paraprofessionals
and the multidisciplinary team to implement individualized
education plans (IEPs) - Create a supportive, nurturing classroom
environment that meets the developmental and behavioral needs of
students Qualifications: - Valid certifications such as Teaching of
Students with Disabilities (TOSD) plus Pre-K3 or K6, or Teaching of
the Handicapped (TOH) - Proven experience working with children on
the autism spectrum, with preference for candidates skilled in
supporting nonverbal students - Strong understanding of behavior
management and communication strategies for high-needs populations
