Position Type: Administration/ Coordinator Date Posted: 3/16/2026 Location: Coordinated Transportation Services Date Available: Immediately Closing Date: 05/01/2026 Educational Services Commission of New Jersey - Central Office Educational Services Commission of New Jersey 1660 Stelton Road Piscataway, NJ 08854 POSITION: Assistant Transportation Coordinator - For routing, Contracts and Professional Development (Twelve (12) Month Position) START DATE: March 30, 2026 -Pending Criminal History Clearance QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and experience in the coordination of transportation routing Demonstrate computer and software skills applicable to cooperative transportation routing Demonstrate effective organizational, written and verbal skills High School Diploma - Continued Education Desirable School Transportation Supervisors Certification preferred Such alternatives to the above qualifications the Commission finds appropriate and acceptable SCOPE: The Assistant Transportation Coordinator shall be responsible for assisting in the development, monitoring, billing and timely submission of appropriate reports and contacts for all cooperative transportation routes, including, but not limited to: Special Education Regular Students Vocational Nonpublic Students School Trips/Athletics The Assistant Transportation Coordinator shall coordinate with the County Office for submission of contracts and required reporting. REPORTS TO: Transportation Coordinator RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop cooperative routes and specifications according to existing law and regulations which address travel time, safety, and cost efficiency Assist in preparation up-to-date pupil listings, notifications to contractors, parents, guardians and district information on all routes prior to the beginning of the school year and as needed Assist in preparation of district contracts and assure appropriate and timely distribution Assist districts in need of mi-year transportation placements. Notify district, contractors "as needed" Review all transportation information for board approval Schedule meetings as needed (minimum one(1) per year) with districts to solicit input for the program evaluation, problem resolution, and to ensure safe and cost effective coordination of transportation RESPONSIBILITIES (CONT'D): Assist in monitoring transportation routes to assure contractor's full compliance with specifications and adherence to health and safety requirements Assist in the preparation and certification of prorated costs of cooperative routes for each participating district, including adjustments of cost affected by additions or deletions of students Coordinate staff development for districts and vendors. Assist in preparation of district billings and review of vendor payments. Anticipate changes in our upgrades to any aspect of cooperative transportation through legislative review, journal reading, meeting, etc. Possess and monitor up-to-date knowledge and records of New Jersey Statutes, rules and regulations governing transportation and provide districts with information and guidance in this area Establish on-going liaison with the County Office Special Education Clearing House Maintain vendor record files Negotiate with vendors for contract renewal, mileage, temporary routes, etc. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned BENEFITS: Full-time staff are eligible for Medical, Prescription, and Dental Benefits.
