Job Description:

The Research Administration Post-award Director, reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Research Administration and the Associate Vice President for Research Administration, is responsible for overseeing the Post-award Management unit within the Office of the Vice President for Research. The individual will be oversee the billing team responsible for invoicing, financial reporting, and closeouts, as well as the compliance team responsible for cash management, accounts receivable, effort reporting, award setup, audit, rate calculations, and reporting. Additionally, the Director will develop and maintain effective and efficient processes to support post-award administration, balancing compliance, administrative burden, and customer service.

The Directors responsibilities include, direct activities within post-award management as well as manage and oversee career development, performance, and training activities, provide action oriented and expert support to investigators, departments, and other customers, oversee the timely submission of invoices and financial reports, oversee cash application, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition procedures, assuring proper internal controls and documentation are in place, assure timely and appropriate closeout of sponsored projects, maintain current working knowledge of federal regulations, sponsor requirements, and University policies, ensure team is appropriately trained in the same areas, oversee effort reporting to assure timely reporting of activities on sponsored projects as required by federal regulations, this includes the appropriate capture of salary cost share, coordinate audit activities in conjunction with other functions within OVPR and the Controllers Office, including Single Audit, supports specific grant and audit issues ensuring proper documentation and review of data and audit responses, address management needs for financial information through routine or ad hoc financial reports and analysis, oversee and perform quality assurance for rate calculations and negotiations, including the fringe benefit rate and the Facilities and Administrative rate, oversee and perform quality control assurance for post-award reports and surveys, including the annual financial statements, NSF HERD survey, and NIH survey, performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business or related field and at least seven years of research administration experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of research administration procedures and requirements

*Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, accounting processes, procedures, and financial controls related to research administration

*Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality

*Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse constituent population

*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to work within tight and often conflicting deadlines.

*Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data, evaluate information, and present findings and recommendations

*Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

*Excellent critical thinking and problem solving abilities, Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities

*Ability to motivate a team and promote a positive, collaborative, and inclusive working environment


*Master of Business Administration preferred
