Overview

Position Summary:

The Financial Reporting and Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining a variety of business unit and enterprise-level financial and compliance reporting needs for the organization. This role will also oversee ownership level entity accounting functions, perform financial analyses, forecast cash flows, support a variety of real estate transactions, and work directly with executive management.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Prepare periodic financial statements, monitor covenant compliance, and manage external financial reporting to investors, agencies, and lenders in accordance with various governing documents including operating agreements, loan agreements, guaranty agreements, and regulatory agreements.
* General controllership for several ownership and enterprise-level entities.
* Direct supervision of the Investment Accounting Analyst.
* Develop and oversee processes, systems, and procedures to manage enterprise-wide financial resources and the underlying data surrounding owned real estate, debt, financial guarantees, contingent liabilities, project ownership, track record, etc.
* Review and understand project closing documents, abstracting relevant data, terms, and reporting requirements.
* Build comprehensive knowledge of corporate, fund, and project legal ownership structures.
* Manage state & local jurisdictional compliance & registration matters.
* Prepare financial analysis surrounding real estate projects and assist with supporting financings, acquisitions, dispositions, and other real estate transactions.
* Prepare and analyze comprehensive operating unit and enterprise-wide budgets and forecasts.
* Assist project development teams by responding to financial underwriting needs surrounding project proposals and the requests of investors, lenders, and agencies.
* Working closely with the asset management team, develop and maintain financial valuations of owned real estate projects.
* Assist with preparing and managing information necessary for external auditors to complete audit reports, tax returns and other external reports.
* Research issues and review filings surrounding state and local taxes.
* Assist with the coordination and management of external service providers including corporate compliance, audit firms, and tax preparers.
* Work directly with senior executives to present financial information, issues, and reports.
* Lead, mentor, coach and train colleagues. Listen to customer concerns and find solutions and resources for them.
* Special projects and assignments as requested.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar discipline.
* Certified Public Accountant preferred; MBA or similar advanced degree a plus.
* 5+ years' experience in accounting and finance. Experience in real estate operations and development accounting, as well as multi-family or affordable housing is highly desirable.
* Advanced experience in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Consolidations experience a plus.
* Exceptional analytical skills.
* Excellent technical skills and demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, modeling and forecasting for real estate projects.
* Experience working with a major general ledger / enterprise accounting software system. Yardi experience a plus.
* Must be organized and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Self-starter and a passion for making an impact in the organization.
* A total team player with the ability to be flexible, work in a faced paced environment and meet deadlines.
* Requires valid driver's license, insured vehicle and ability to travel
